WWZ Season 1 Roadmap

World War Z is the latest, and some may say greatest, co-op shooter that places you and three of your friends against massive hordes of the living dead.

World War Z has also apparently sold quite well, having sold over 1 million units in its first week of being on sale on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store (yep, it's an affiliate link). As such, you may expect that the game will be receiving some fresh content in the months ahead and you'd be correct.

New content is in the works and the first drop arrives this month (May). This first new content is an all-new mission set in Tokyo. It will be released along with a new zombie type. This new zombie will spit out a virus that can resurrect some of his undead bros if he's not taken care of.

In June, there will be a new, six-skull difficulty setting along with a unique reward. Also in June will be bonus cosmetics and more. In July, players will get to check out the new Weekly Challenge mode. July also includes additional cosmetics and "other goodies."

There is other content planned that doesn't yet have a release window.

Other major upgrades in development for further free updates include a wave-based survival mode, private lobbies, the ability to switch classes during PvPvZ matches, field of view (FOV) and level of detail sliders on PC, and more.

Powered by Saber’s dynamic Swarm Engine™, World War Z unleashes hundreds of fast-moving, bloodthirsty zombies – able to move and strike as one collective herd as well as break off into individual attackers – at a time on players. Choose from six distinct classes and an arsenal of deadly weapons, explosives, turrets and traps. Outlive the dead through intense four-player co-op campaign missions around the world, including New York, Jerusalem, Moscow and Tokyo, and battle both zombies and real human opponents in competitive, team-based Players vs. Players vs. Zombies (PvPvZ) multiplayer.
