The Evil Within 2
Bethesda Softworks®, a ZeniMax® Media company, today announced that The Evil Within 2®, from survival horror mastermind, Shinji Mikami and the talented team at Tango Gameworks, is available now for the Xbox One, PlayStation® 4 computer entertainment system and PC. The Evil Within 2, directed by game designer John Johanas with Mikami returning as the game’s producer and creative supervisor, takes the acclaimed franchise to a new level with its unique blend of psychological thrills and true survival horror. Also, from the dark mind of composer Masatoshi Yanagi comes The Evil Within 2 soundtrack, available today on Spotify, iTunes and Amazon music platforms.

“With The Evil Within 2, we wanted to give fans a compelling reason to return to the STEM world, a hellscape no one willingly intends to revisit,” said John Johanas, Game Director at Tango Gameworks. “For the sequel, we took a more open approach to encourage greater freedom of exploration and to allow players to pick and choose how they want to play. Players must truly prepare themselves in order to survive.”

In The Evil Within 2, players will reprise their role as police detective Sebastian Castellanos who must return to the nightmarish STEM world in a desperate search to save his daughter, Lily. Along the journey, Sebastian must confront new twisted creatures and sadistic villains while braving an atmosphere of true terror, heightened by cutting edge lighting and an eerie soundtrack. In a last attempt at redemption, the only way out is in.

Hunt: Showdown
Crytek has announced that Hunt: Showdown will have an early access release on Steam. Hunt is a competitive first-person bounty hunting game with heavy PvE elements. It packs the most thrilling moments from survival games into a match-based format and sets the action in dark and forgotten corners of the world. A new trailer is now available on the game’s Steam page, where players can add Hunt: Showdown to their wishlists.

“We believe strongly that community-driven development is crucial to creating a great online multiplayer experience. An early access release will allow us to get Hunt out to players as quickly as possible, to collect feedback and to work closely with the community to continue to shape the direction of the game,” says Hunt producer Fatih Özbayram of the decision.

Of what players can expect, creative director Magnus Larbrant explains, “We will be adding more gear, more monsters, more hunters, more game modes, more traits, crafting and further map variations throughout early access. We want to take the time to make Hunt the game we’ve always wanted to play.”

Hunt’s match-based gameplay mixes PvP and PvE elements to create a uniquely tense experience where your life, your character and your gear are always on the line. At the beginning of each match, teams set out to track their monstrous targets. Once they’ve found and defeated one of these they will receive a bounty—and instantly become a target for every other hunter left on the map as they try to get off of the map with the prize. The higher the risk, the higher the reward–but a single mistake could cost you everything.

Aftercharge (Open alpha only from October 13-15)
Developed by Canadian indie team Chainsawesome Games (the studio behind the fan-favorite and popular Xbox Games with Gold title, Knight Squad), Aftercharge pits invisible robots against a squad of specialized security enforcers in fast-paced battles. While a team of three invisible robots works to destroy six energy extractors on the map, a team of three indestructible (and heavily-armed) human(oid) guards must find and stop them. It sounds simple, but each team features three class types uniquely suited to combat the opposing team’s individual abilities.

On the defending Enforcers team, choose between invincible guards Striker, Liquidator and Builder. When on the attack team as an invisible Workonics droid, dismantle extractors as Glitch, Bubbles or Cyclops. Alternate characters to explore new offensive and defensive tactical options and strengthen your team’s strategy.

Key features include:
• Unique Blend of Fresh Mechanics: An invisible team fighting an invincible team, reviving allies instantly with no limit and zero cooldown on abilities are only a few mechanics that make Aftercharge unlike any shooter you’ve ever played before.
• Bite-sized Competitive Matches: The teams are small, the maps are small and the rounds are short, but the action is always within sight and it never stops.
• Asymmetrical Teams: Each team has a specific objective and unique abilities that offer diverse play styles among their characters.

There we go. It's Friday, October 13, 2017 and it is not Thursday, contrary to what I thought it was all day until about 6PM. These were the games and game related things that were released today in a quasi-NewsBits style format. Yee-haw.
