Much like a web browser, Netflix, and similar services, the Virtual Console also will not be available for the Nintendo Switch on launch day. I suppose the good news here is that the eShop will be available at launch.

This announcement comes directly from a new Nintendo press release. The good news is that there is a rumor that the Virtual Console will have GameCube games. The added bad news for the Switch launch is that users will not be able to share games across multiple consoles. But like everything else with the lacking elements for the Switch launch, this may also be addressed at a later date.
