  • Jake Gyllenhaal to Star in The Division Movie

First off, why the hell is there going to be a movie adaptation of The Division? Is it going to be something where the first 20 minutes are amazing, the next 90 minutes have the theater workers punching you in the nuts, and the last 5 minutes are just filled with our heroes fending off waves of enemies after which they get a piece of gear? Like... what is even going to happen here?

Furthermore, Jake Gyllenhaal is set to be one of the film's stars! Yes, the Prince of Persia himself is going to be in another Ubisoft backed film.

Gyllenhaal is reportedly also going to be the film's producer. The studio is still looking for a writer for the movie.

The idea of sleeper agents who 'wake up' when the local apocalypse happens is interesting and fun, but yeah, the game didn't have much story outside of that... other than what you were doing to entertain yourself while grinding for a loot drop, which wasn't better than the gun you already had.

The videos Corridor Digital produced in collaboration with RocketJump, DevinSuperTramp, and Ubisoft were engagingly awesome (check them out on YouTube or the extended version on Amazon Prime video), and if they can do it on a smaller budget, imagine what Hollywood's larger budget can do! So I can see it working...

........ For the beginning part as both Zips and cikame said. I... Uh... Don't know what kind of film you'd make after the prologue.

(Seriously though, check out the collaborative video project. It's pretty cool how each company has a different perspective - both figuratively and literally - on the world of The Division. Like how does DevinSuperTramp make a video that doesn't involve killing?)

I'm a Corridor Digital fan but i have to say those videos were super weak, it was more 'a day in the life' than an actual story.

I like that kind of perspective. Put me in the present, screw retelling the past and condense it with a few flashbacks, and show me the Hell each person goes through to make it through the day. And it's not like they were making a 90 minute film to tell a substantial story. To me it works. I guess everyone's mileage will vary.
