The latest NPD figures are in and Sony once again reigns supreme in both hardware and software for June 2015. The PlayStation 4 led in overall hardware sales and software sales, thanks in part to the strong demand for the special Batman: Arkham Knight PS4 bundle.

On the software side of things, Splatoon had a very solid full month, earning an impressive fifth spot on the software chart. That is even more impressive when you notice that it is the only game on the top 10 that was only released on one platform.
June 2015 Software
1.) Batman: Arkham Knight (PS4, Xbox One, PC)
2.) The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited (Xbox One, PS4, PC)
3.) Lego: Jurassic World (360, Xbox One, PS4, PS3, 3DS, Wii U, Vita)
4.) The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (PS4, Xbox One, PC)
5.) Splatoon (Wii U)
6.) Minecraft (360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4)
7.) Grand Theft Auto V (Xbox One, PS4, 360, PS3, PC)
8.) Mortal Kombat X (PS4, Xbox One)
9.) NBA 2K15 (360, PS4, Xbox One, PS3, PC)
10.) Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Xbox One, PS4, 360, PS3, PC)

Batman: Arkham Knight's sales have exceeded those for Batman: Arkham City, bundles included. Splatoon reportedly sold 290K units during the June 2015 NPD period. That places the total number of Splatoon units sold at over 455K.

The Xbox One was no slouch, even if the PS4 beat it in overall units sold. The Microsoft console sold 51% more units this year when compared to the same period in 2014, where they just happened to sell 197K units. Simple math should show that a 51% increase means roughly 297K Xbox One units were sold in June. Combined sales of the Wii U and 3DS were up 20% more from January to June 2015 than from January to June 2014. The 3DS alone was up 40% for the same period.
