More broadly, Microsoft is cutting 4,800 jobs.

Today, Microsoft is laying off 2.1% of its workforce. This equates to 4,800 people that are being let go. The company's XBOX division is cutting about 20% of its entire workforce. All of this is being done in an effort to cut costs due to rising prices and expenses brought about by artificial intelligence (AI).

As a quick reminder: Microsoft plans to spend $190 billion on AI in 2026. In 2025, the company spent $80 billion...

PlayStation is Killing Physical Game Discs

Digital only after January 2028.

Starting January 2028, Sony will no longer produce physical discs for new PlayStation game releases. All games released in January 2028 and after will be available only through digital stores such as the PlayStation Store.

Sony attempts to justify this move by claiming it's a "natural direction" in order to "adapt to consumer trends as the general preference for digital media significantly outpaces physical discs."...

This is Diablo 4 at its best. I mean it this time. For real.

Returning to the world of Sanctuary for this latest chapter feels like a true homecoming for those of us who have spent hundreds of hours traversing its dark and unforgiving landscapes since the base game launched back in 2023. The release of the Lord of Hatred expansion marks a significant step forward in the narrative that was originally set in motion during the initial campaign and furthered by the events of the Vesse...

Steam Typing Fest Starts on Thursday

I sense Mavis Beacon had a hand in this one.

Valve just announced another upcoming Steam Fest. This one is for the typists out there. Those who write a lot and just cannot get enough of it so they keep on writing on and on until they write a way-to-long sentence that nobody in their right mind would ever actually type out.

The Steam Typing Fest will begin on February 5th at 10 AM PT. Running until February 9th at 10 AM PT, Steam users will be able to get discounts, demos,...

  • How Are Online Casinos Catering to the Growing Need for Community?

If you’re into digital games, especially video, you know how important the sense of community is. Imagine unlocking new levels or rare items in a game, but having no one to tell or no chat window to celebrate in. Progress can suddenly feel oddly empty simply because achievements are meant to be shared, not kept to yourself. And for a good time now, this has been one of the main challenges of the online casino industry.

Well, when online platforms emerged in this industry, they ...

  • New Live-Action Resident Evil Requiem Trailer is a Mix of Sadness and Horror

Probably the best live-action anything ever made for Resident Evil.

A new promotional trailer for Resident Evil Requiem came out today. Unlike traditional pre-release trailers for games, this one isn't some pre-rendered trailer. There's no "in-engine" stuff here. And there is certainly not a single bit of gameplay seen here.

No, this is a live-action trailer that attempts to set a certain tone for the upcoming Capcom developed action-horror game. This trailer...

The Notepad++ Update Server was Compromised for Months

Manually update to the latest version to avoid issues.

For almost half of 2025, an update server for Notepad++ was compromised by Chinese state-sponsored threat actors. According to an official statement from the Notepad++ team, the attackers were able to intercept and redirect update requests from users. The redirect would point them instead to malicious servers.

According to the app's developer, Don Ho, and "multiple independent security researchers," the...

  • Ashes of Creation MMO Leadership Quits 'in Protest', Mass Layoffs at Intrepid Followed Shortly After

The MMORPG released into Early Access just this past December.

Ashes of Creation seems to be no more. The ambitious MMORPG seems to be done for just a month after being released into Steam Early Access, and after roughly a decade of development and closed playtests.

A mere day after a new "Director's Letter" to players was released, the game and the development studio behind it, Intrepid Studios, were basically no more. The director and creator of Ashes of...

  • Reportedly a Third of Non-US Game Developers are Cancelling Plans to Travel to States

This is honestly a very smart decision.

The United States is pretty fucked right now, especially if you are not a white male with blue eyes and blonde hair. The president's personal gestapo, better known as Ice, have been assaulting, abducting, arresting, disappearing, and straight up murdering people in what they claim is a crackdown on "illegal immigrants." This obviously isn't even counting the fact that people with gender-neutral passports are finding it harder and...

  • How Many Games Did You Complete in 2025?
    by Shawn Zipay
Make up your own definition of "complete."

Was 2025 a big year for game completions for you, or were you more of a "stick to one never-ending, live-service game for the entire year" sort of player?

For this, you can take whatever definition you want as a game "completion." Beat the main story? Earned 100% of the game's achievements? Or simply played enough that you're satisfied with what you accomplished and have no plans to return any time...
