Hoisted by his own petard.

A Call of Duty: Vanguard player was recently accused of cheating while competing in a recent unofficial paid tournament. The player and streamer, known as Kenji, tried to clear his name by pointing a webcam at his screen while streaming in order to try to prove he wasn't cheating.

It backfired in the most spectacular fashion.

This all went down in a 2v2 Search and Destroy match. Though Kenji and his teammate won the match, the results were called into question by his opponents, ImSasukee and iLuhvly. The competitors brought up the dispute with the tournament organizers at Checkmate Gaming.

As they were going through the footage from Kenji's stream, Checkmate Gaming noticed something a little off. Checkmate saw, clear as day, that Kenji was using wallhacks. Part of the stream, seen in the tweet below, clearly shows footage from Kenji's webcam setup that he was cheating. You can see that there are floating rectangles appearing on his screen, which are boxes drawn around the enemy players even when the character models aren't actually in view.


While it is clear that Kenji was using wallhacks, it was also made clear that he wasn't using any aim hacks.

The entire stream from where that clip originates from has been deleted by Kenji, but that cat is already out of the bag at this point. Kenji has since deleted his entire channel. However, it is still possible to see the exact moment where his competitor's discovered that he was hacking thanks to this archive of their stream (should take you to the 25m 30s mark in the stream).

He has also been banned from Checkmate Gaming, where he had previously earned about $4,000 since the end of 2020 by playing Call of Duty. The College CoD League (CCL) that Kenji was a part of has also issued a permanent ban against Kenji and has also disqualified his four other teammates representing Grand Canyon University. The CCL shared their decision through their official Discord server.
