  • Battlefield 6 Season 2 Details and Rumors Trickle Out

Golmud Railway is also coming back in a future season.

Oh boy do we have some news for you today, Battlefield 6 fans. Details for Season 2 were leaked, including the Season 2 trailer and some information about the new content we can expect to see. Around the same time, Battlefield Studios shared their own information about some Season 2 stuff by way of a new Community Update.

First up, are the details from today's leak. In Season 2, there will allegedly be just two maps released. The first one is apparently called "Hagental Airbase" and should be there at the start of Season 2. The second map will come at a later date, presumably about halfway through the season.

Just two maps for a seasonal update is extremely disappointing to see. There are literally four studios currently under the Battlefield Studios umbrella: DICE, Ripple Effect, Criterion Games, and Motive. How there aren't more than just two new maps coming in a season is baffling.

Anyway, the leak continues on to say that there will be a "small helicopter" and motorcycles added. It may be safe to assume that the "small helicopter" reference in the leak is the Little Bird (or Nightbird for those familiar only with Battlefield 2042). The Little Bird was already present in Battlefield 6 and can be spawned in via Battlefield 6's Portal.

The trailer for Season 2 was also leaked. You can just go to Streamable to watch it since I tried to embed it here and it just broke the website.

When it comes to official news about upcoming content, Battlefield Studios was a bit less forthcoming.

They say that in the next Battlefield Laps test session, they will be testing content on one of Season 2's new maps. The new map is called "Contaminated." Whether or not this is the same as the "Hagental Airbase" map in the leak or the name of the second map coming in Season 2 is currently unclear. This testing sessions for Labs will also do some vehicle focused testing.

We’ll be evaluating how vehicle gameplay and aerial presence interact with infantry combat, alongside cover and asset placement, and objective boundaries. We’ll also be testing how the map’s unique gameplay mechanics function in live matches, as well as the tools available to players to interact with them.

Alongside our Season 2 map testing, upcoming Battlefield Labs sessions will also include a handful of additional gameplay-focused tests. This includes early testing of the AH-6 Little Bird ahead of its planned arrival in Season 2, allowing us to evaluate how it fits within the broader vehicle ecosystem and how it performs across different combat scenarios.
Oh, I guess they confirmed that the Little Bird is coming right there.

Contaminated details won't be revealed for a bit yet. However, Battlefield Studios says that Contaminated's size is between Eastwood and Mirak Valley. It's also "comparable to classic Battlefield maps such as St. Quentin Scar (Battlefield 1) or Arras (Battlefield 5). An early look at the new map can be seen below.

An image of the work in progress map for Battlefield 6 called Contaminated. It shows a mountainside with several armored bunkers and bases on the side.

I don't know about you, but it's giving me some Monte Grappa (Battlefield 1) vibes with those hillside bunkers.

Further out, Battlefield Studios will be testing adjustments to rockets and vehicle interactions and making adjustments to RPGs and TOW launchers. Vehicle handling reactions when countering rockets will also be tested. Other tests will focus on hit registration and combat consistency.

Golmud Railway is also coming to Battlefield 6. You know, it's coming at some point. Battlefield Studios just said that it's coming over from Battlefield 4 but they will be "improving how it plays and supports Battlefield 6 systems." Golmud Railway is planned to be the "largest Battlefield 6 map to date." Testing for Golmud will begin in Battlefield Labs in the near future, though it will still be a bit of a wait until it's added to the live game.

There is no word yet on whether or not there will be a moving train element in the Battlefield 6 version of Golmud Railway.

Battlefield Studios is also testing out solos for the REDSEC battle royale mode. So, that's a thing. Or it won't be a thing. I guess it really depends on how their tests go.
