Mandatory 14-day online checks or no gaming for you.
Apparently, there are now exactly zero games with Denuvo that have not been either cracked or bypassed. This is according to Tom's Hardware who cite a few different hacking groups in their report.
As of April 27th, there are "officially" no games with Denuvo's anti-tamper and DRM software left to crack. This is due to the efforts of groups such as the MKDev collective and DenuvOwO. These two groups found a way to install a kernel-level driver that intercepts and responds to Denuvo's checks.
This original method required users fully disable hypervisor security on Windows machines. The hypervisor-based bypass (HVB) disables virtualization-based security, credential guard, driver signature enforcement, core isolation and memory integrity (HVCI), and so on. There will undoubtedly be some people that say some or all of these things are unnecessary, that they're just detrimental to a machine's performance, or that "all you need is common sense and you'll be fine!" None of those opinions matter for this. The facts are that these services do make your system more secure. Just holding the door wide open to literally anyone and everyone to have kernel-level access to your system is monumentally stupid.
An update to this risky HVB method was then issued. The current "V3" method now only requires users disable Core Isolation and then toggle off Driver Signature Enforcement (DSE), run the game, and then re-enable DSE. While this is still risky it is at least less risky than the original method detailed above. You also have to trust that the pirates releasing these kernel-level bypasses won't do anything else to your system.
Beyond this main Denuvo bypass method by MKDev and DenuvOwO, a security cracker known as voices38 was also able to fully strip out Denuvo from recent game releases, such as Resident Evil: Requiem.
In response to this complete bypass of their anti-tamper and DRM methods, Denuvo and 2K decided to really put the screws to legitimate game owners. A new update was rolled out to several 2K Games' titles on PC, including NBA 2K25, NBA 2K26, and Marvel's Midnight Suns. The change to Midnight Suns is almost comically evil given that it has now been available for four years.
This update now forces a 14-day mandatory online verification. You will be unable to launch your game until you go back online to get a fresh 14-day token that says you're allowed to play the game. It also does not matter if you are only playing the single-player components to these games. Allegedly, this new online check is "impossible for the HVB to emulate, as it's a request/response call to Denuvo's servers and thus in practice can't be replicated."
This near-constant need to phone home to Denuvo's servers is quite the drastic change from the previous implementation. The previous method was supposedly just a one-time activation performed when a game is first launched. This one-time activation typically lasted until significant hardware or software changes were made on a user's system.
While this rolling 14-day check-in won't be an issue for many, there will always be the obvious outliers. Those with spotty network connections or those who frequently travel may have to look elsewhere for their gaming fix.

Legit Game Buyers Punished as Denuvo DRM Fully Cracked

#1azalea commented04-29-2026, 09:47 AMEditing a commentIronically, the Denuvo bypass can and in some cases already does completely neuter these online checks. So this change, while being touted as a solution, is actually doing absolutely nothing to pirates, and hurting legit consumers instead. The company made claims very recently that this would work, and yet has been demonstrably proven false.

by Shawn ZipayThe controversial DRM system has long been blamed for poorly performing PC games.
Despite the years of complaints from PC players, Denuvo is still the go-to option when it comes to adding anti-tamper and anti-piracy measures into new game releases. It's also still just as common to hear complaints from players saying that Deunvo is responsible for any and all performance woes that a player faces when playing a video game with it included.
These claims of degraded performance...-

by Shawn ZipayConsider this a horribly failed experiment.
id Software executive producer Marty Stratton took to Reddit to announce that the much detested Denuvo Anti-Cheat will be removed in the next update for DOOM Eternal. For those who are not aware, the previous update for DOOM Eternal added in the third-party anti-cheat to the game.
Much like the anti-cheat used in Valorant, the Denuvo Anti-Cheat operates with elevated permissions at ring 0, or at the kernel level of a system....-
