A new trailer is out today for Directive 8020, the upcoming cinematic sci-fi survival horror adventure from Supermassive Games.

Directive 8020 is expected to be out on May 12, 2026. Pre-orders went live on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.

Directive 8020 - Join the Mission

From the creators of Until Dawn and The Quarry comes an all-new sci-fi survival horror adventure where Earth is dying and humanity is running out of time. Sent on a mission to Tau Ceti f, the crew of the colony ship Cassiopeia crash-land far from home, and soon realize they are not alone. Hunted by an alien organism that can imitate its prey, paranoia spreads quickly as trust begins to collapse among the crew.

Directive 8020 evolves The Dark Pictures formula, blending cinematic storytelling with more active survival gameplay. Players must evade real-time threats, react under pressure, and harness new stealth mechanics to avoid detection by an enemy that could be anyone - even a member of your own crew. Every movement matters. Every sound can give you away. Every decision can cost a life.
With a branching narrative shaped by player choice, players for the first time in a Dark Pictures game can see their decisions mapped out in a story tree with the ability to rewind by using Turning Points, or live and die by their choices in survival mode.

Starring Lashana Lynch as Brianna Young, the Cassiopeia’s pilot, Directive 8020 thrusts you into a desperate fight for survival and a gripping cinematic sci-fi horror experience.

    Trust No One

At the heart of Directive 8020 lies a terrifying question: who is still human? The alien organism stalking the Cassiopeia can perfectly imitate its prey, turning crew members into deadly impostors. As suspicion spreads, every interaction becomes a risk, and every decision could cost a life. In a world where anyone could be the enemy, trusting the wrong crewmate could be fatal.

    Movie Night Mode and Multiplayer

Survive the horrors of the Cassiopeia alone in single-player mode. Or don’t play alone in Directive 8020’s Movie Night mode, allowing up to five players to experience the story together in local couch co-op. Pass the controller to your fellow crewmates as the story unfolds, share the tension, and work together over every life-or-death decision to survive alien infiltrators, deadly dilemmas, and catastrophic system failures. Five-player online multiplayer will also be supported in a free post-launch update, bringing the couch co-op experience online. More information about this is coming soon.
