Bethesda has been relatively quiet when it comes to Starfield. The first expansion and so far only expansion, Shattered Space, was released in September 2024. Details on the next expansion, tentatively called Terran Armada, have been basically non-existent.
Lately, there were a lot of rumors kicking around that Bethesda was secretly working on a massive "2.0-style" update to Starfield that would make sweeping changes to the game and totally fix everything people didn't like. Well, Todd Howard already shot that rumor down quite directly in a recent interview on the Kinda Funny Gamescast, stating that it's "not Starfield 2.0." The update(s) that Bethesda are working on won't suddenly make you like the game.
Still, we haven't really been told what is coming for Starfield. We've only heard about what it won't be.
Thankfully, it seems as though Bethesda's Todd Howard will soon let that cat out of the bag. According to a Tweet (Nitter link) response by Bethesda, the Starfield team will "have more to share next week." This post was made on Friday, March 13, so it can be a safe assumption that we will get some fresh information within the next six days or so.
Here is the full comment from Bethesda in a response directed at a PC Gamer article where Starfield's composer called Todd Howard a "visionary."
We ran this by Todd and he said his only visionary power is seeing running lanes in EA College Football 26. He appreciates all the passionate feedback on Starfield and we’ll have more to share next week.
