For now, the Switch 2 will stay at $450. For now.

Nintendo announced that they are opening up U.S. pre-orders for the Switch 2 on April 24, 2025. The good news here is that the price for the Switch 2 has not increased. It will still launch at $450 for the standalone model for those in the United States. The bundle with Mario Kart World is still going to retail for $499.99. The bad news is that every Switch 2 accessory is now more expensive.

As part of the announcement, Nintendo very clearly says that "other adjustments to the price of any Nintendo product are also possible in the future depending on market conditions." Those "market conditions" being the on-again, off-again excessive tariffs that U.S. president Donald Trump has imposed on the rest of the world. In particular, it is the tariffs against places such as Vietnam, China, and Japan that will most directly influence any potential price increases for Nintendo hardware.

Nintendo states that pricing for both the physical and digital versions of Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza will not be increased. They also won't be decreased. They will still launch at the suggested retail pricing of $79.99 and $69.99 respectively.

Below are the new prices for Switch 2 peripherals and accessories. Most of the prices have gone up by roughly $5. The Switch 2 Dock Set went up $10, Joy-Con 2 Strap went up $1, and the Carry Case with Screen Protector, All-in-One Carry Case, and AC Adapter all went up $6.

For Canadians, the pricing of the standalone Switch 2 remains at $629.99, with the bundle with Mario Kart World staying at $699.99.
