Developer Arrowhead released the first batch of special Killzone crossover items for Helldivers 2 this week. The items were each sold for actual money, with prices that fans felt were far from reasonable.

There was a new armor that was sold for 500 Super Credits (1,000 Super Credits equal to about $10 USD). Also sold was a new cosmetic cape for 310 SC, a helmet for 310 SC, an emblem at 150 SC, and a new assault rifle priced at 615 SC. All total, you would need to spend 1,975 Super Credits, or almost $20, to get all of those items.

One of Helldiver 2's regular "Warbonds" (can be thought of as persistent, themed, mini Season Passes) only costs 1,000 Super Credits, or $10. This means that for almost double the price of a Warbond, you would be able to get just five items. On top of that, this was only the first batch of Killzone themed items, with a second set of items expected to be sold next week.

Fans were, to put it mildly, rather upset at the prices for these items. They were also rather upset that the items would only be sold for a period of five days before rotating out, which put some unnecessary FOMO into the minds of some.

Today, Arrowhead announced some changes to how these Killzone crossover items are being handled. First, the second group of items that were going to be sold next week are now available for free to everyone. These items are available to be added to your account right now and should appear when you load into your ship.

These free items being offered include an armor set, player banner, cape, and two different primary weapons (PLAS-39 Accelerator Rifle and StA-11 SMG). They are also going to offer a new W.A.S.P. stratagem via an upcoming Major Order for players to unlock.

Furthermore, Arrowhead is extending the duration for how long the first items will be up for sale from 5 days to 10 days. They say that they are looking into how to bring back these special items back permanently.
