  • Square Enix Says No to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth DLC as Studio Focuses on Part 3

No Intergrade-like release is in the works.

Square Enix says that they are focused on making the third part for their Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy and are not working on any DLC for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. This news come via an interview between The Daily Star and game director Naoki Hamaguchi.

Fans were expecting, or at least hopeful, for some DLC for Rebirth after Final Fantasy 7: Remake received some sizable DLC after release. That Remake DLC was called Intermission and focused on Yuffie. Intermission was later included with Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, which combined both Final Fantasy 7 Remake and the Intermission DLC.

We definitely do hear the desire from fans, the voices out there that want that kind of thing. I understand it completely, but I think, from my perspective, what the fans really want to see the most is not necessarily DLC. They want to see the third part of the series as quickly as possible.
Though Square Enix seems to be all in on developing the third part, it's still probably a long ways off. Square Enix previously suggested that they hope to see the release of the third and final part for their Final Fantasy 7 remake by 2027.
