Nintendo still hasn't announced the Switch 2 yet, or whatever they end up calling the Switch successor. What they have announced is a new interactive alarm clock that they're calling Alarmo. This $100 device will wake you up "in one of the playful worlds from Nintendo."
The "Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo" will add "some Nintendo charm to your home and your daily routine." Alarmo is expected to release in early 2025, but those of you living in the United States and Canada are able to pre-purchase it right now through the My Nintendo Store. Also you need to be a subscriber to Nintendo Switch Online to even purchase Alarmo for some reason.
The "interactive" part of Alarm comes in some of its motion sensing feature. For instance, you'll be able to snooze the alarm through a motion (I assume flipping Alarmo the bird won't be one of those motions). You can also stop the alarm by actually getting out of bed. If you don't wake up, Bowser eventually shows up. I assume he shouts in your ear at max volume until Alarmo knows you are awake.
There will be 35 scenes included with Alarmo, each inspired by five different Nintendo titles: Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 3, Pikmin 4, and Ring Fit Adventure. Don't worry though, Nintendo says that they will update Alarmo with scenes from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons in the future.
Alarmo will also be able to track your sleep patterns. You can also fill your room with Nintendo ambiance all through the day if you want.
Maybe Alarmo has a setting to sound an alarm when Nintendo actually announces the Switch 2.
In the morning you’ll experience immersive sounds and music from the scene you picked. Rise to sounds of the Mushroom Kingdom with Mario and friends, begin your day’s adventure with Link and Princess Zelda, or start fresh with the Inklings from Splatoon 3. And those are just some of the experiences you can wake up to!
That’s not all – you can also check Records to see how much you move around in your sleep, set an hourly chime themed to your chosen title, and change between Steady or Gentle Modes for your morning alarm. In Steady Mode, the alarm will gradually get more intense the longer you stay in bed, whereas Gentle Mode offers a more consistent intensity level. There’s also Button Mode for a more traditional, tactile “hit the snooze button” alarm clock experience. You can even use sleepy sounds to wind down with soothing music and sounds at your set bedtime.
