  • World War Z: Aftermath 'Extinction' Update Out Now

Some new free and paid content is available today.

The new "Extinction" update for World War Z: Aftermath is now available to all players on PC via Steam and Epic, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. This update adds a bunch of new, free content to all owners of the game. There is also a bit of paid cosmetic DLC for those who wish to purchase it.

The biggest addition today comes in the new Extinction Challenge Mode. There are more zeds that are more aggressive. These undead baddies are also able to infect you on contact. Allies are also tougher to distinguish from the pack and death occurs after just one incapacitation. Respawns are only possible at checkpoints. For those looking for a challenge, this one is for you.

There are also 13 new mutators for Challenge Horde Mode:
    • Grenadier - The Bomber throws explosives until neutralized
    • Myopia - After aiming, your vision becomes blurred
    • Plague Creatures - During the wave, a random special zombie and poison cloud appears
    • Mass Contamination - The Booster infects a larger group of zombies nearby
    • Angry Turrets - At the start of the wave, all deployed turrets become neutral, posing a deadly threat to both zombies and human players
    • New Advantages for All 8 Classes - Raise the health and damage of each class by 50%
Other new content added for free is the addition of the Arizona XL map for Challenge Horde Mode and a new heavy weapon skin customization. The optional paid content is the Golden Bloom Weapon Skin Pack for $4.99. This paid cosmetic pack adds a "flashy floral pattern" to the Geist 17MP pistol, Paladin LMG, Keris V10 SMG, BSS-2 shotgun, and MAG-5 machine gun.
