  • Stranded Deep 2 Announced as North Beach Opens New Prague Location

A new studio and a new sequel out of North Beach today.

North Beach Games just announced the formation of a new development studio, North Beach Games Prague. If you can believe it, this new studio will be located in Prague, the capital city of the Czech republic.

North Beach Games Prague is led by Sam Edwards from Beam Team Games, the creator of Stranded Deep. The studio's general manager is Tomáš Pšenička from Keen Software House, creator of Space Engineers. Staff will be mostly on-site for those living in Prague but will accommodate some staff that will be working remotely around the world.

The initial focus for this new studio will be "to create and support new games within the survival crafting space." With the focus on survival crafting games and with Edwards at the helm, it makes sense that the first project for North Beach Games Prague will be to develop Stranded Deep 2.

Stranded Deep 2 is only starting to be developed. The only thing for the game that was able to be shared today is the simple logo design, which you can see above.

"We’re super excited to be kicking off the development of Stranded Deep 2 with our new development team, North Beach Games Prague,” said Sam Edwards, Creative Director and Chief Technology Officer of North Beach Games. "Tomáš and his talented team will be a great partner to build out the studio as we look to the future of the franchise and explore new horizons."
North Beach Games will also continue to support and publish outside titles. For instance, they are still working with Free Range Games and Middle-earth Enterprises on The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria.

I liked the first one as a less scary alternative to The Forest but didn't follow through with all that was required to "finish" the game, i do wonder what the sequel to being stranded on an island looks like.
