The 5800X3D was just the start.

Those still on AMD Socket AM4 motherboards probably have no reason to make a major upgrade to AM5 hardware just yet. This is especially true with how AMD keeps offering new Zen 3 models in its X3D series. According to a reliable leaker chi11eddog and relayed by TechPowerUp, AMD will soon release the Ryzen 7 5700X3D and the Ryzen 5 5500X3D.

These new X3D processors, though built on the older Zen 3 microarchitecture, feature the newer 3D vertical cache (3D V-Cache) that has proven itself to be beneficial for gaming performance. These new X3D processors could be particularly enticing to those on older Ryzen generations that want a more powerful CPU without having to break the bank, and for those who have no desire to purchase a new motherboard and possibly RAM yet.

The Ryzen 7 5700X3D is an 8-core/16-thread CPU with 100MB of total cache. The Ryzen 5 5500X3D is a 6-core/12-thread chip with 99MB of total cache. Base frequency on both chips is 3GHz, a slight reduction from the 3.3GHz of the 5600X3D and 3.4GHz on the 5800X3D. The 5700X3D can boost up to 4.1GHz (vs 4.5GHz for the 5800X3D), while the 5500X3D boosts up to 4GHz (vs 4.4GHz on the 5600X3D).

As this is a rumor at the moment, no official word has been shared by AMD. This also means that prices for these potential new chips aren't yet known either. You can probably guess at the prices when you take into account that the 5600X3D currently retails for $230 exclusively at Micro Center and the 5800X3D has a list price of $449 but seems to be on sale everywhere for just $323.

AMD has now released several Zen 3 and Zen 4 processors with this 3D V-Cache technology. The first such chip was the Ryzen 7 5800X3D released in April 2022.
