We are one day away from the new expansion.
Car battle and police blockade in the streets

We are just a day (or much, much less depending) away from Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. The new expansion is almost here that will add in a bunch of new story, a new location called Dogtown that players can explore, and other new content.

This launch trailer will give players a look at some of the characters and faces they will meet in the expansion. These faces include Solomon Reed, portrayed by Idris Elba. We also hear "Phantom Liberty" performed by Dawid Podsiadło playing in the trailer.

Reviews for Phantom Liberty seem to be quite positive across the board from media outlets. OpenCritic has Phantom Liberty sitting at an 89% average with 97% of all critics recommending the expansion to players. Of course, it's maybe important to keep in mind that the original launch of Cyberpunk 2077 also received fairly favorable reviews (76% average), though was only recommended by 64% of critics.

Seems like critics are saying that the highlights of Phantom Liberty are the story and newly added side-content. The new expansion goes hand-in-hand with the recent Update 2.0 for Cyberpunk 2077 that essentially transforms the entire Cyberpunk experience into an entirely new game. This is even more true if you haven't played the game since launch and haven't experienced anything in the past almost three years of patches and content updates.

I know I'm personally excited to finally do a second playthrough of Cyberpunk. I haven't played the game since beating it within the first couple weeks of release. CD Projekt Red does recommend that if you're returning to Cyberpunk, you should think about starting the game over again. This is less to do with the release of the expansion and more to do with how Update 2.0 drastically changed so many core gameplay elements.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is out on September 26 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and GeForce Now.
