Some good news for those that need or want more information about what sort of accessibility options games include. Sony announced that they are adding new Accessibility Tags to the PlayStation Store for PlayStation 5 titles. These tags are rolling out globally this week.

There will be 50 different tags across six categories for developers to add to their store listings. These tags will appear when pressing the "Triangle" button while browsing the game hub for titles appearing in the PlayStation Store on PlayStation 5. These accessibility tags can run the rage from visual and audio accessibility settings to DualSense controller options, to the simple inclusion of difficulty settings, and more.

While the tags seem to (so far) only be for those browsing the PlayStation Store on PS5, they will appear for PS5 and PS4 games available to purchase. If both versions of a game are available, you will be able to compare Accessibility Tags for each title through a dropdown menu.

Here’s a sampling of the more than 50 Accessibility Tags available for game developers to choose from, across six categories:
  • Visual accessibility features, such as clear text, large text, color alternatives, audio cues and directional audio indicators.
  • Audio features, such as volume controls, mono audio, screen reader and visual cue alternatives.
  • Subtitle and caption options, including subtitle size, clear captions, and large captions.
  • Control options, including button remapping, thumbstick sensitivity, and ability to play without button holds, rapid button presses or motion control.
  • Gameplay options, such as difficulty settings, skippable puzzles, simplified quick time events, and game speed.
  • Online communication options, such as text or voice chat transcription and ping communication.
Sony says that the initial titles to feature tags are many of their first-party offerings. These include games such as Days Gone, Death Stranding Director's Cut, Ghost of Tushima Director's Cut, God of War, God of War Ragnarök, Gran Turismo 7, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Ratchet & Clank, and Returnal. Though this week is the initial rollout, it may take some games a bit of time to get the tags added by developers and publishers.
