A new beta firmware update is adding in one of the community's most requested features.
PS5 1440p

Today, a new beta firmware update is rolling out to some PlayStation 5 users that will finally introduce 1440p support. This update is currently being tested by those who have been invited into the beta program and will hopefully see a full public release within a few weeks' time.

This beta firmware offers support for 1440p HDMI video output. If the game you are playing supports 1440p rendering, you will get a native 1440p output on your display. If the game is running at a higher resolution, say it's 4K, the output will be downscaled to 1440 and offer some added anti-aliasing as a result.

PS5 Gamelists

This beta firmware also adds in a feature called Gamelists. These Gamelists allow you to organize your games into lists. You can have up to 15 lists with up to 100 games per list. All of the games under the "Your Collection" tab of the Game Library can be added to a Gamelist. Think of these almost like the folders feature that was introduced to the PlayStation 4.

Sony is also adding a little feature that will allow you to compare the differences between 3D audio and stereo audio. It is also now easier to access in-progress Activities as they are shown at the top of the game hub now. Players can now ask other party members to start the Share Screen feature to watch gameplay. Notifications will allow you to join other party members when they start a game or activity. You can now also view new friends' profiles after accepting their request, and you can send stickers and voice messages in the Game Base card.
