Vicarious Visions is now officially merged into Blizzard, becoming Blizzard Albany. The studio's recent output includes Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 as well as the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. Blizzard Albany will now exclusively work on Blizzard games.

Vicarious Visions was first founded back in 1991. Their first game, Synnergist, came out in 1996 for MS-DOS. The studio was mainly known for handling handheld ports of several titles for the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS. Once acquired by Activision in 2005, Vicarious Visions mainly became a support studio for games like Destiny 2 and Guitar Hero.

Today's announcement of a new name shouldn't be too surprising though. The studio was turned into a Blizzard support studio way back in January 2021. It's not clear what Blizzard Albany will be working on, but it has to be assumed that they may be supporting development on Overwatch 2, Diablo IV, and/or World of Warcraft.
