Capcom and Oculus just announced that they will release Resident Evil 4 VR for the Oculus Quest 2 on October 21, 2021. That's roughly one month away from the time of this news posting. A new gameplay trailer accompanies today's release date reveal.

Resident Evil 4 VR includes support for both full-motion movement along with teleportation-based traversal. Items in the game world are now physical items that you can interact with. Weapons can be "placed" on your virtual body so that you can quickly access them in the heat of battle by grabbing them off of where you placed them. For instance, guns will be attached to your belt while health items can be pulled from reaching over your left shoulder.

Other aspects of the classic survival horror game have been redone for VR. Puzzles and other objects can now be interacted with in VR. You now have to physically interact with the typewriter in order to save. Sadly, from some previews that went up today, it sounds like the cutscenes are not in first-person perspective. You'll have to watch the same old cutscenes in a theater view while they play.

Resident Evil 4 was first released for the GameCube back in 2005. Since then it has been re-released for almost every platform released since then, except for PC VR. Yep, Resident Evil 4 is only going to be available for those with the Oculus Quest 2, just as Resident Evil 7 remained exclusive to PlayStation VR.
