    The biggest announcement out of today's Facebook Connect event was the official reveal of the Oculus Quest 2. It is the latest standalone headset from Oculus/Facebook that offers 6DOF (six degrees of freedom) without the need to be tethered to a PC.

    Facebook is Discontinuing the Rift Product Line in 2021

    Company will no longer build PC-only VR headsets.

    Facebook announced today that they will discontinue the manufacture and sale of the Rift product line in early 2021. Once this happens, the company will no longer have any PC-only VR headsets available for sale.

    The Oculus Blog says that the company is ending support for its own account system. Moving forward, the only way to log into the Oculus services moving forward will be by logging into a Facebook account. This change will apply first starting in October 2020.     During the Oculus Connect 5 keynote earlier today, Oculus VR announced the Oculus Quest. The Oculus Quest is an "all-in-one VR gaming system" that allows players to experience six degrees of freedom, Touch controllers, and a price tag of $399 (USD).
