Sucker Punch announced the Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut release will be available on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles on August 20. This new edition of the game includes the original game, all of the previously released add-on content, as well as an entirely new adventure to embark upon.
This new story content will take place on the nearby Iki Island, situated right next to Tsushima. This new chapter for Ghost of Tsushima takes place on Iki Island. Jin will travel there to investigate rumors of a Mongol presence. Of course, things don't quite go so smoothly and Jin will find himself "caught up in events with deeply personal stakes that will force him to relive some traumatic moments from his past." You'll get a new story, new characters, as well as this new island to explore. There will also be new armor, new mini-games, new techniques, new enemy types. and "much more." And yes, there will be new animals to pet.
The PlayStation 5 version of the game will get some exclusive features. There will be better lip sync during cutscenes for the Japanese voice overs. The PS5 will also take advantage of haptic feedback and the adaptive triggers on the DualSense. There will be some enhanced 3D audio, better load times, 4K resolution options, and a 60FPS framerate target.
You can purchase Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut for $69.99 (USD on PS5 or $59.99 on PS4. You will also be able to upgrade to the Director's Cut on PS4 for $19.99 if you already own the game. If you own the Director's Cut on PS4 you can upgrade to the Director's Cut on PS5 for $9.99. You can also upgrade directly from the base PS4 game to the Director's Cut on PS5 for $29.99.
