As promised just yesterday, Rockstar Games did indeed release an update for GTA Online that addresses the monumentally long load times for the game. To summarize yesterday's story, a user going by the nickname of t0st discovered that he could cut the load times for GTA Online down by about 70%. He submitted his findings to Rockstar and Rockstar said they were going to implement this fix in an upcoming patch.

Well, that patch is out right now! Rockstar released the 1.53 update today for GTA Online that includes t0st's fix along with an acknowledgement of thanks in the changelog. Worry not for t0st, as they also received a nice $10,000 reward for finding the bug for Rockstar.

Thanks to this update, literal minutes are being shaved off of the game's load times in many cases. Rockstar is not able to promise that the load times will hit or even come close to being 70% faster, but some users took it upon themselves to verify the update for themselves. Below is just one example of how load times have improved for users.

The image used for this news post was taken from the video. You can see that load times went from 2 minutes and 16 seconds down to just 24 seconds.

Another verification on these improved load times comes from PC Gamer. Their own Wes Fenlon timed the pre-patch load at 3 minutes and 15 seconds. After the patch, the load time was down to just two minutes. So while the improvement may not be massive for everyone, there are definitely some cases where there are very noticeable improvements. This Reddit thread has some users saying that it they now load into Online faster than the Story mode.
