Foreword:
I, Warbird_7, have collected these experiences from across the web over the past month; although many of them have come from this site (totalbf2.com). You may notice that a majority of them do not have authors listed. This is because I was stupid and forgot to get their names. I do not take credit for ANY of these experiences. They aren’t mine. I have, however, edited them for purposes of readability and clarity. I also added the titles, if for no other reason than to distinguish one story from another. If you recognize one of these experiences and know who the author is, please contact me. I would like to give credit where credit is due.
I love to read stories regarding these types of games; stories about incredible teamwork, selflessness, and utter hilarity. It seems somewhat difficult to find such stories, as they are scattered and (sometimes) suffer from excessive “1337” speak, making it very hard to read or understand. My goal was to collect these kinds of stories, compile them into a central location, and enhance their readability.
I simply love stories; there isn’t any other motive or reason.
On a different subject, this is not a thread for posting your own experiences. I would like posts to be confined to commenting (flaming or praising, it matters not) on this anthology. I am, in all likelihood, going to be doing this next month as well. If you are interested in sharing your experiences, please send them to me either by email or by private message. Please do not post them here.

To what lengths we go…
While on the Dragon Valley map, I found myself playing the Type95 AA Vehicle. The last couple of games found me in the top three as far as score goes. As an engineer class, I stayed around the Chinese main base to protect the commander’s assets, and shoot down intruding enemy helicopters.
Then a guy joined my team whose game name is “TimRussert”. He gets into a stinger and proceeds to shoot me a couple of times. He then kills me.
I asked him “Why are you shooting at me Russert?”
He replied: “Because you are a ******.”
I have never seen this guy before, he just joined the game, and he called me a ******. Well I didn’t even respond because I was too busy playing the game. What he said however began to fester inside me. So this idea hit me when I was in the shower!
I created a new account name and called it: KillTimRussert
Next I found the server he was playing on and proceeded to join. Just my luck, he was a squad leader. So I spawned right next to him. I would love to have seen the look on his face as he looked at me and saw “KillTimRussert” as my name. He stared at me for a couple of seconds and then shot me with his sniper rifle. My plan was working perfectly. Of course I punished him for the TK.
I spawned right next to him again and proceed to be the biggest pain in the arse that I know how to be. When he gets into a vehicle, I jump in front of it. When he gets into a helicopter, I jump on top of it. When he gets into a firefight, I jump right in front of his gun. As he runs around I constantly shoot right next to his head with my shotgun, never hitting him of course.
This guy likes to play sniper, so he wants to remain hidden right? Well I follow him to the top of every building, and when he goes prone, I stand up straight and proceed to fire off all my ammunition and draw as much attention as possible. He finally got banned from the server, and so I left him alone for the day.
Saturday 7-23. I wake up and I am going to play for a little while, but not without visiting my friend Tim, I log on as KillTimRussert, and find the server this wahoo is playing on. I would pay good money to see the look on his face as the text pops up in the bottom left of his screen: “KillTimRussert has joined your squad.”
As I spawn next to him, I find him lying prone on a hill waiting to snipe someone. I pull out my C4 packs and drop them all around him. He gets up and looks at me in disbelief. He stares at me for five seconds, probably thinking, “What the heck, how does this guy keep finding me?” He then drops two claymores right in front of me, and we both sit there for about 10 seconds. I jump as high as I can, which sets of the claymores, and earn him another team kill. I push ‘page down’ to make him feel better.
My wife has been sitting next to me as I do this, and we are both laughing so hard that we are practically crying. I hand over the controls to me wife, who has never played, and she follows this guy everywhere. I wish I could see the look on people’s faces, as a guy named “TimRussert” is being chased by a guy who is bunny hopping after him named “KillTimRussert”. The best part is everyone in the game thinks it is TimRussert who is the troublemaker. I always kill a few people and cap a few flags for points, and because of me; this guy always ends up with negative points.
I know this is juvenile, and I apologize to anyone who has had his or her team gaming experience ruined because of me. I have not laughed this hard for a while, as I follow this guy around annoying the crap out of him. My wife and I did this to Tim for twenty minutes, and we started laughing so hard we woke up our five-month old girl. It is hilarious. I do this for about 10 minutes a day and I plan on doing this until he apologizes for calling me a ******.
It is a very nice stress relief.
Edit: July 26, 2005 - 7:00am. I think he is on to me. According to bf2tracker.com, his last online time was July 24. His score at that time was around 750. He is now at 1000 points today. This means he was able to turn off the tracking system of his stats in regards to which server he is on. If you see him, tell him I said hi!

Crazy Booters
Well, last night was fun... was playing on Strike as a support trooper (want some ammo?) (Editor’s note: got milk?) on the USMC team... match started and there I am racking up ammo points by littering all over the place near Hotel...
Yawn... everybody does that... sigh...
The weird part was, I hadn't even fired my weapon or tossed a 'nade yet, when dudes on the MEC team initiated a kick vote. OK, no big deal, they couldn't get it passed... but what was funny was that before the round was over, five different guys (all on the MEC side) had initiated separate kick votes...
Now... I'm still puzzled (not concerned, just puzzled) as to why they were trying to kick me... I only had eight kills and, like, four deaths that round (about my average) and the round before. It certainly wasn't for team kills (they were on the other team)... it couldn't be because of my attitude, as I don't type messages for the enemy to read and I don't use the voice chat...
LOL, It was kind of fun to be famous for a while... seeing my name at the bottom of the screen for almost an entire round...
AND, before you say it, of course I don't care and won't lose any sleep over it. Probably just a bunch of morons anyway... but I'll have C4 on a flag or vehicle or tree or fence for those morons in a match real soon (muhahahahahahaha). (Editor’s note: sounds like something I’d do during a really long match…)
C4 Finesse
Eight here.
The main road leading to Karkand is a perfect spot, I just planted four or five C4s, and then a HUMVEE and a tank stopped right on top of it cause the HUMVEE driver wanted to do repairs after the tank got hit by a rocket.
His squad spawned on him and one of them got into the gunner spot on the tank.
That's when another guy spawned and I pressed the detonator.
*Beep*
*Boom*
Screams of laughter via VOIP, as my whole squad was watching the fireworks.
Experimentation is good…
Something I been trying a lot lately is strapping all five C4 packs to the nose of the Mi17 and then flying it into a full Blackhawk on Mashtuur city, bail at the last second and then click the button.
The chat that follows is absolute gold.

But you can't beat this. In the heat of battle, I'm running low on lead, so I call a supply drop for my squad; the commander was quite the lad and responded immediately.
Little would I know, the supply drop fell right on top of me, and squished me with the much-needed cache of munitions and med kits.
Best. Win. Ever.
I had a good one last night. We were on Kubra Dam and it was tied the entire round. Only when it got down to about ten points did our side finally have a five-kill advantage. The score was like eight to three when I did this.
I took a jeep and motored back to the main MEC base. I ran over a guy right next to the flag and made a large circle to come back around. On my way back a medic ran out to his fallen comrade and was about ready to revive him. I lined up perfectly on them but got shot before I could reach the two of them. The last thing I saw before the score screen was my jeep careening into that crouched medic. My jeep kept going though and ran over both the medic and the revived victim. It was those final two kills that ended the round!
WTF?!
I was with some mates in a unranked bookable server, doing some stunt type stuff. A mate goes up the giant tower in Dalin Plant, C4's himself off it, parachutes on a set of four huge silo type things. He slips off, parachutes again, and then proceeds to "float" down and land on my head.
Slow Learner
The most fun I had with killing someone was when one of my douche bag teammates wanted a jeep I was in badly enough for him to start shooting at me. I was on an incline when I got out and the guy was right behind it. It started rolling backwards, and apparently this guy didn't know to hold “E” when trying to get into a vehicle.
Now that isn’t much fun by itself, just more poetic irony than funny. The funny part is that it killed him four more times (that’s right, the same jeep). What happened was an overeager medic saw him die, revived him, and the jeep instantly killed him again. The medic did this three more times before the jeep finally killed him too.
I just couldn't believe what I was seeing. The jeep killed this guy a total of six times. SIX TIMES!!! I couldn't stop laughing for, like, five minutes. After that I went and got back into the jeep and drove off. Needless to say that guy didn’t want the jeep I was driving any more.
Goin’ Down With Style
I believe this was in Karkand or something. We should know those houses by now, where there's a stairway up and every house, everywhere, looks the same on the inside. Then there’s one more stairway up to the roof, where oft we find snipers.
I was in that little house, in that very room, and I was sniping from it (as special forces) with my buddy (who was also special forces) and we were doing awfully well; to a point where an order was issued to take us out. A big organized effort came to storm the house; and from the windows I saw them all coming. Low on ammo, we thought we could put our explosives to use, so we planted some on the doorway in, the stairway up, on the tables, the closet, the TV, the couch, well... anywhere without actually hiding it.
There we stood, at the ready with our remotes; waiting for them to enter.
The yokels come running up in this huge group (four or five through the main entrance), and another group who must've taken the rooftops to storm us from upstairs (three of them). Upon entry, and initially about to shoot us, they notice all the pretty little green packages adorning every household surface.
They spin around and head for the door (Editor’s note: smart). Some were oblivious and kept shooting (Editor’s note: not so smart).

How to use a smoke grenade…
I was play Karkand last night and I was capping a base when I see on the UAV that someone was coming towards me. We both used a full clip on each other, without taking damage. I switch over to a smoke grenade and throw it. The other guy must have thought it was a frag grenade because he ran away. When he realized it was smoke he came running back really wanting to get me. I was waiting prone and with one shot he was dead......
Just really made me laugh the way it all came together
Hey ya’ll! Watch this!
Heh. I just saw this one the other day. The MEC commander was sitting in a RIB just off the coast of the southern base. The US commander did a scan and saw him sitting there, not moving. He goes over VoIP, "Hey guys, watch the sinking ship", spots it on the map, and drops some supplies on the RIB. It sank the boat and killed the commander. That was the first time I ever saw the supplies sink a freaking boat.
Karma Sucks
Another death for me rather than a kill. On Wake Island, I was playing as a sniper, taking out the oncoming soldiers. As I started to run out of life/ammo I called for a supply drop. The commander obliged. As it was dropping a distance away I ran towards it and went prone next to a hut. Whilst waiting for the crate to land I was "critically wounded". As usual, I called for a medic to revive me. Unfortunately as the medic was approaching the supply crate landed on the roof. As the medic then positioned himself to bring me back I watched the crate slide off the roof and 'kill' us both.
Skydiving Gone Wrong
I was flying in the NVA transport spawn helicopter and we were hovering above the enemy base so we could respawn and skydive to certain doom. Well, I jumped out at the same time as this other guy and we were both falling at warp speed. I waited till the last minute to pull the chute; but just as I did, I noticed that the other guy slammed right on top of one of huts. And the best about it was I could hear his guy screaming down till the thud. I don’t know if that guy was paying attention, but I was cracking up so hard I forgot that I just landed at the enemy base. Of course, I immediately got wiped out.
Hind Attack
I remember one time on Desert Combat when one of my friends was over at my house and we were taking turns. I had really been tearing up, and as I was walking over the mountains at El Alamien, a Hind attacked me. I kept looking up and running towards it, in order to get underneath its rockets. Then all of a sudden the helicopter disappeared over a hill. I was like, “Where did it go?” I was looking around in circles, then all of a sudden: boom! It crashes down right before my eyes! Shortly after, the pilot comes parachuting down and I kill him with my pistol. I had used up all my rifle ammo on the Hind.
Once in a lifetime…
One of the funniest moments I had? Well, we were preparing for a match on Desert Shield. I was using the SCUD from the Opposition’s main base. I was looking through the artillery picture and fired a shot at the Coalition’s airfield. As my shot was descending on their base, I saw an Apache coming in to reload. Several tense seconds passed, then: boom! The SCUD hit dead on and demolished the Apache. It was one of those things that you will never see again. Taking out a helicopter with the SCUD from across the map. It was hilarious.
Super Base Defense

I was on the MEC team in Operation Clean Sweep and had been in my attack helicopter all day. I was shot down, so I respawned and got into the helicopter. Suddenly, I notice 10-15 enemy soldiers coming over the crest of the hill.
“Well,” I thought, “either I can run like a coward or kill them all. Hmm. Let’s go with the second option.” So I get in the gunner position and start blasting away at anything that moved. When the smoke settled, only one got away. That day I got my Helicopter Service Ribbon.
Oh, yeah. After killing the marines, a Cobra comes and blows me up before I even get in the pilot seat.
Lone Defender (Super Base Defense: Novel style)

(Editor’s note: near as I can tell, this is the same story as above written in a more descriptive and personified way. Makes a good read.)The sun was beginning to set over the western mountains. I had managed to beat back the infidels as they tried to take our island. Though I had not been completely successful, I had managed to stave them off long enough for the ground troops to set up defensive positions.
After losing my helicopter just over the airfield I guided myself back to the pad. Somehow the infidels managed to capture the abandoned village to the south of us. As I looked to the ridge I saw an infidel attack wave bearing down on me and two other soldiers. I had no time to think, only act.
I had landed off target, near our flag, and so I ran. I ran as fast as I could the fifty feet that separated me from my helicopter. That was the longest fifty feet of my life as bullets whizzed passed my head and kicked clouds of dirt up around my feet. As I reached my helicopter I saw my fellow soldiers take a grenade round. I had to act if we were to keep the base so I quickly jumped to the gunner’s position. I trained my sights on an infidel coming down the hill at me and let lose the gun.
For the next ten seconds I did nothing but hold down the trigger as infidel after infidel fell before me. As I trained my sights on the last of them my gun finally gave into the barrage and overheated, giving the infidel time to retreat. In the end fifteen infidels were counted as dead through my actions.
Unfortunately I would never be able to revel in the fact. As I began to take off, an infidel helicopter took swift revenge for the deaths of his comrades. He blew me to pieces. As they lay my body in the ground they pinned the Helicopter Service Ribbon to my chest and lowered me down. (Editor’s note: bought and paid for in blood)
Charge of the n00b brigade…

I was playing as MEC, and we were on Karkand holding the first point. Every once in awhile, a squad would attempt to rush this alleyway in order to get to the base.
Apparently, they never got the concept that the same tactics in the same situation will always produce the same outcome.
Long story short, for about three rounds I played cat and mouse with this squad, in that same alleyway; and every time I would mow them down with machine gun fire.
Sure every now and then they would manage to flank me, but they would still wind up with a face full of lead.
It took 'em long enough, but they finally outflanked me via a field and went up the stairs to cap the base. But not before I gave 'em a parting gift of two dead and one wounded.
I should really thank that squad; because without them, I wouldn't have got over 30 kills a round! So, to n00b squads who always use the same path: I love you and your kind. Hope to gun you down--I mean, see you on the battlefield!
Massacre at Karkand (Charge of the n00b brigade: Novel style)

(Editor’s note: again this is the same story as above with more elaboration. And, again, it makes a good read. I don’t know ICPO personally, but from reading his work, I say he’s got talent.) As I walked down the alley and took my defense position I was ready for my jihad. I may not have been doing anything spectacular like blowing myself up near a convoy, but a jihad is a jihad. This was my thought as I loaded a clip and cocked my RPK-74.
As I lay down twenty feet behind the hole in the fence, I readied myself as my fellow soldiers ran by to complete their jihads in the Holy War against the American infidels. I began to hear the anguished death screams of my comrades; I sighted my weapon in and readied myself for the onslaught. Soon enough an entire squad of infidels meet their doom at the end of my barrel. None advanced more than two feet into the alley.
Wave after wave of infidels fell before my might as they ran towards the gun like chickens to the slaughter. Things escalated to the point where my gun would overheat and I would be forced to hold off the infidels by pistol and knife, fighting to earn time for it to cool down enough to be fired again.
I was on top of the world as infidel after infidel fell to my might. I believed Allah himself had blessed me; but then, fewer and fewer infidels came. I should have taken that as a sign, but I felt invincible. Then, as a specter in the night, an infidel snuck up behind me and put three rounds from his pistol into me at point blank range.
As I coughed up blood and gasped for air, and slowly I allowed the icy grip of death overcome me. I know it was the will of Allah. My eyelids slowly closed on the world I had known.
The world that had forsaken my beliefs and, ultimately, me.
Comeback Time

Well, I joined an EA server and happened to wind up on the team that was loosing. But unlike a noob, I didn’t just switch to the wining side. I fought my way to first place on our team, but we didn’t win the round. On next map, Mashurr city, the first round started off as a massacre for our side. When we were pinned down at the US base, I told all my teammates to respawn as anti-tanks. This was because a Blackhawk overhead was owning everyone.
But did they listen? No.
Soon enough the second round came. I sprinted to the flag where our tank spawns. As a medic, I drove up to the middle flag and came face-to-face with an enemy tank; of course, I blew him up with no problem. During this round, I ordered everyone to rush my position. This time they listened.
About midway through the round, we had the US trapped in their base. I told everyone to rush ‘em, using the same tactic as before. This time, however, some enemies slipped by us. Before we knew it, the US had captured the middle flag! I jumped back in the tank and headed that direction with my squad. Boom! One of them got hit. I jumped out the tank, which was still under fire, to revive him.
My teammate’s life saved, I scrambled back into the tank and blew up a HUMVEE. Unfortunately, I hit one of my own teammates in the process. So once again, I hopped out and revived him; I cut it so close that I was hit twice while running to and from the tank.
I had promised my team victory, and I was going to keep that promise.
As the battle raged on, I still jumped out to revive teammates, no matter the cost. However, they didn’t have much to worry about. I had a great gunner riding on top.
All through the round I drove back and forth so my team could cap each flag, but I always stopped to revive my teammates.
“Spear Head, break through the line!” –slayer
That’s what ran through my mind as I was fighting. The US was shocked when my team started owning and winning; without noobish TKs or anything! The only time I found myself forced to fire was on a Blackhawk, an enemy tank, and a jeep. I let my gunner deal with the groundpounders.
When the game ended, I had over 60 points; mostly for teamwork.
Even though I'm a lone wolf, I know how to be a team player.
Hitchhiking the BF2 way…

I was waiting for an MEC to get a knife battle on. Then our tank drove by me slowly from the side. I saw an MEC special forces coming from behind. He didn’t C4 the tank. He jumped on to the tank, and stayed on top of the tank for a good two minutes; even when the tank was starting to move away. I was being an ******* and I didn’t spot that Special forces out, because the scene was just too classic. I didn’t get enough of a laugh yet... and this one I actually got a screenshot of.

Hey, I first played BF2 on the release day of the demo, played Oman to death, then moved away from home.
I've now got the Internet and a full copy of BF2. At first I was disappointed, the squads weren’t half as good as the ones I experienced in the demo, and I basically got up to Corporal as a lone wolf in the first two days since I was sick of poor leadership.
However.
I played a server tonight on Operation Clean Sweep, and I decided to lead myself.
I created a squad called "Blackhawk" and sent out some invites, my team soon filled and we choppered out to the MEC Main base, capped it and moved along the flags one at a time , all the while the commander helping us with UAVs and directing jets in to fend off air threats. Eventually, USA had all but the middle flag by the big bridge, our chopper was damaged at the Northern most flag, so we set out on foot. All six of us jogged along, and took the catwalk beneath the bridge, upon getting to the other side, I hid by some rocks and my team slowly snaked down the hill, and after a few respawns each, and a few close calls by the rocks, we took the flag and won the game by 200+ tickets.
Bit of a pointless story though, but have faith! I did not know any of my squaddies, I didn’t even have my VoIP set up yet, but still we dominated the map, and a couple of us got the promotions/ribbons to show for it.

My friend (special forces) and I (also special forces) captured the far right flag (Editor’s note: the hotel) and we were looking for our next target. Then, I got this crazy idea: we should infiltrate the carrier! My friend agrees (we’re in a LAN gaming hub) and we headed for the nearest RIB. He grabs the gun, I grab the helm and we were off.
Our approach was surprising easy. Our only encounter was with an inbound Blackhawk. The gunner took a few potshots at us, but did only minimal damage to our craft. We landed in the boat dock of the carrier; I covered my friend as he hopped out. Coast was clear. He does the same for me, and then I started moving for the ladder. At the top I was greeted, in typical American fashion, by a spawning anti-tank. A quick glance at my friend’s screen revealed that he wasn’t in a position to fire. So I took the liberty of cutting loose a burst, dropped the guy, and moved on.
The flight deck was empty when we arrived. After destroying the UAV trailer and the radar dish, my friend was left with two charges and I, three. He ran up to the observation deck while I left a gift a lá C4 on the cockpit of the VTOL jet. I threw the remaining charges on a Blackhawk that had recently spawned. I then joined my friend in hiding.
A few minuets pass and things are still “all quiet on the western front”, so to speak. Curious as to the lack of activity, I brought up my map…to see that the only points we still controlled were the hotel and our base. About this time, someone spawned and made a beeline for the VTOL.
Sweet.
I waited until he was up and moving before I pressed the detonator. Upper left corner text confirmed my kill, so I peeked up to watch the fireball descend into the sea. Except, it didn’t. There was the jet, untouched (yet pilot dead), still flying aimlessly towards the shore.
Murphy’s Law

So my friend and I met on the flight deck and got permission from the commander to use a nearby Blackhawk for a HALO (High Altitude Low Opening) over the enemy’s base (Editor’s note: always good to get the commander’s approval)
Upon arrival at maximum altitude over our target, we bailed. We freefell for some ten seconds, or at least until I could fire my pistol and hit the ground five feet below me. Whichever came first. We cut it close, but we popped our ‘chutes and landed safely.
Once on the ground we bagged the UAV trailer and one of the artillery pieces. Apparently the MEC didn’t take too kindly to our escapade, and we soon found ourselves engaged in a firefight. After eliminating the tango, I decided that it was time to book it. We [GTA’d] (Editor’s note: Grand Theft Auto’d. My “clever” term for taking something by force) a transport chopper; my friend grabbing the controls and I, the gun turret.
Shortly thereafter, we touched down on the carrier. Having spent a great deal of ammo, we called for support, patched ourselves up, and headed into the breach again.
Only to be hit by the artillery as we flew over it.
When the goin’ gets tough…

LT. Chisolm and I (MARINE203) were playing Strike at Karkand, USMC. As is our practice, we start our own squad. I'm a medic and the squad leader; my friend is special forces. We both have the weapon unlocks. We started, as most people do, by going down the hill and breaking the pieces of wood covering the hole in the metal fence. We stop behind that big section of pipe there. I turn to LT. Chisom (we were in a LAN café, sitting next to each other), “I’m not leaving this pipe till I am out of grenades!” Being the squad leader, I ordered him to do the same (we get into the game way too much). So we toss all of our grenades across the road into that alleyway getting maybe four kills between us.
He takes point and goes through the hole, following normal room clearing procedures. He announced “Clear” when the area was safe (he's going into the Marine Corps. and
I just know all of these things. Again, we get into the game way too much). I come into the room and quickly sweep it myself. About this time he moves to the alleyway, heading to the hotel spawn, and takes half a clip from an MEC assault. I responded in kind and emptied half my clip into him. This completed, I started to go over to shock my friend back to life.
When I got to the mouth of the alleyway, an MEC special forces opens up on me. Being a creature of habit, I empty the rest of my clip into him. Following him was a medic who starts to revive him. My rifle now empty, I switch to my pistol and kill him; and it must have been my lucky day because a support came around the corner and hit the dirt. I drop my kit, pick up my friend’s kit and kill the support. I started to reload when another special forces came around the corner. Crap. I switch to my friend’s Mk 23 and empty the magazine into the guy’s head. This time I wait for someone else to come around the corner. No one did. I then proceed to pick up my medic kit (it should be noted that this firefight lasted less than fifteen seconds), got my shock paddles out and (finally) revived my friend.
Getting back on his feet, he picks up an MEC special forces kit and begins to walk off…only to catch an MEC shotgun blast to the chest. Once again I rush forward, this time with my knife, and stab the engineer in the head, killing him. Probably should have followed my number one rule: always reload when not moving. I got out my shock paddles and revived my friend. Fate wasn’t going to let me off the hook that easy. As if on cue, MEC artillery started raining around us. My friend was killed instantly. I cursed and began running…only to be hit in the road by an APC.

Once I was playing on Gulf of Oman. I was MEC and we had captured all of the flags on the map. I was the squad leader and I told my squad to defend the shores so as to prevent the Americans from landing. Of course no one really complied. They just did their thing. I was in an APC so I could attempt to shoot down any helicopters and kill any landing craft that came my way. I was set, but for some reason no one was coming. I could see a good portion of the shore and there was not any sign of any American invasion. So, after getting bored out of my brain, I did what anyone would do (even though I normally oppose it). I headed out to the carrier to spawn camp.
About halfway, I realized I should have waited a minute longer to defend. A boat started speeding in my direction. As it passed me I gave it a rocket and sent it to Davy Jones' locker. Then I saw the Cobra. The only thought running through my head was, "I'm dead." As he approached I thought I would at least try to do something to him. So, I'm sitting in the middle of the water with an attack helicopter bearing down on me. I shot a rocket at it…and I hit it square on. Now I was expecting to die, but the chopper pilot turned out to be quite a bad shot (though he was good at maneuvering the thing).
After his first pass he came back around but took just long enough that I had time to load another rocket. Again he fired off a wave of bad shots, only hitting me with one or two. I hit him with another APC rocket. Then I started taking heavy fire from the Vulcan cannon aboard the carrier. I hit it just in time to survive with a sliver of life. I fired several shots off at the helicopter and sent in fleeing behind the carrier in flames. Unfortunately I died, hit by an anti-tank rocket from the deck of the carrier.

So after purchasing Special Forces I went into single player to check out some of the maps. And for those of you who have played single player, have you noticed that the enemy compy commander always artys you when you hold still, even for a brief moment?
Anyway, I was playing on Devil’s Perch and I had just taken the gate flag. I started to climb up the ladder to get on top of the wall so I could zipline to one of the lower flags that had just been taken. About half-way up the ladder an artillery shell (the very first of the barrage) nailed me!
That was amazing enough, but then my death cam showed my body spinning at unbelievable speeds across more than half the length of the map and into the ocean out of the combat zone. My friend and I couldn't stop laughing for quite some time. (Editor’s note: I noticed the artillery as well. The enemy commander AI is inclined to blow the crap out of the human player whenever possible.)

Unfortunately, I didn't catch the guy's name. But his deed was pretty remarkable.
I was playing on Wake Island on some server and driving the jeep like a madman picking off the chopper campers (who deserve to die btw). As I was coming around for another pass, I see a guy making a break for the jet. I accelerate up to ramming speed, but I'm just a hair too slow and I plow into the jet after he gets onboard. Well I fully expected to die right there. But instead, my jeep was smoking and I managed to push the jet off the edge of the runway and it was slipping down towards the ocean.
The pilot did some quick thinking and actually took off from the side of that hill! I don't know if those Chinese jets will hover or not (Editor’s note: to the best of my knowledge, they can’t. Which makes this pilot’s feat even more remarkable.), or if he just punch the afterburner. But I sat there in disbelief as he flew off and left me sitting there with my smoking jeep.

I, Warbird_7, have collected these experiences from across the web over the past month; although many of them have come from this site (totalbf2.com). You may notice that a majority of them do not have authors listed. This is because I was stupid and forgot to get their names. I do not take credit for ANY of these experiences. They aren’t mine. I have, however, edited them for purposes of readability and clarity. I also added the titles, if for no other reason than to distinguish one story from another. If you recognize one of these experiences and know who the author is, please contact me. I would like to give credit where credit is due.
I love to read stories regarding these types of games; stories about incredible teamwork, selflessness, and utter hilarity. It seems somewhat difficult to find such stories, as they are scattered and (sometimes) suffer from excessive “1337” speak, making it very hard to read or understand. My goal was to collect these kinds of stories, compile them into a central location, and enhance their readability.
I simply love stories; there isn’t any other motive or reason.
On a different subject, this is not a thread for posting your own experiences. I would like posts to be confined to commenting (flaming or praising, it matters not) on this anthology. I am, in all likelihood, going to be doing this next month as well. If you are interested in sharing your experiences, please send them to me either by email or by private message. Please do not post them here.

To what lengths we go…
While on the Dragon Valley map, I found myself playing the Type95 AA Vehicle. The last couple of games found me in the top three as far as score goes. As an engineer class, I stayed around the Chinese main base to protect the commander’s assets, and shoot down intruding enemy helicopters.
Then a guy joined my team whose game name is “TimRussert”. He gets into a stinger and proceeds to shoot me a couple of times. He then kills me.
I asked him “Why are you shooting at me Russert?”
He replied: “Because you are a ******.”
I have never seen this guy before, he just joined the game, and he called me a ******. Well I didn’t even respond because I was too busy playing the game. What he said however began to fester inside me. So this idea hit me when I was in the shower!
I created a new account name and called it: KillTimRussert
Next I found the server he was playing on and proceeded to join. Just my luck, he was a squad leader. So I spawned right next to him. I would love to have seen the look on his face as he looked at me and saw “KillTimRussert” as my name. He stared at me for a couple of seconds and then shot me with his sniper rifle. My plan was working perfectly. Of course I punished him for the TK.
I spawned right next to him again and proceed to be the biggest pain in the arse that I know how to be. When he gets into a vehicle, I jump in front of it. When he gets into a helicopter, I jump on top of it. When he gets into a firefight, I jump right in front of his gun. As he runs around I constantly shoot right next to his head with my shotgun, never hitting him of course.
This guy likes to play sniper, so he wants to remain hidden right? Well I follow him to the top of every building, and when he goes prone, I stand up straight and proceed to fire off all my ammunition and draw as much attention as possible. He finally got banned from the server, and so I left him alone for the day.
Saturday 7-23. I wake up and I am going to play for a little while, but not without visiting my friend Tim, I log on as KillTimRussert, and find the server this wahoo is playing on. I would pay good money to see the look on his face as the text pops up in the bottom left of his screen: “KillTimRussert has joined your squad.”
As I spawn next to him, I find him lying prone on a hill waiting to snipe someone. I pull out my C4 packs and drop them all around him. He gets up and looks at me in disbelief. He stares at me for five seconds, probably thinking, “What the heck, how does this guy keep finding me?” He then drops two claymores right in front of me, and we both sit there for about 10 seconds. I jump as high as I can, which sets of the claymores, and earn him another team kill. I push ‘page down’ to make him feel better.
My wife has been sitting next to me as I do this, and we are both laughing so hard that we are practically crying. I hand over the controls to me wife, who has never played, and she follows this guy everywhere. I wish I could see the look on people’s faces, as a guy named “TimRussert” is being chased by a guy who is bunny hopping after him named “KillTimRussert”. The best part is everyone in the game thinks it is TimRussert who is the troublemaker. I always kill a few people and cap a few flags for points, and because of me; this guy always ends up with negative points.
I know this is juvenile, and I apologize to anyone who has had his or her team gaming experience ruined because of me. I have not laughed this hard for a while, as I follow this guy around annoying the crap out of him. My wife and I did this to Tim for twenty minutes, and we started laughing so hard we woke up our five-month old girl. It is hilarious. I do this for about 10 minutes a day and I plan on doing this until he apologizes for calling me a ******.
It is a very nice stress relief.
Edit: July 26, 2005 - 7:00am. I think he is on to me. According to bf2tracker.com, his last online time was July 24. His score at that time was around 750. He is now at 1000 points today. This means he was able to turn off the tracking system of his stats in regards to which server he is on. If you see him, tell him I said hi!

Crazy Booters
Well, last night was fun... was playing on Strike as a support trooper (want some ammo?) (Editor’s note: got milk?) on the USMC team... match started and there I am racking up ammo points by littering all over the place near Hotel...
Yawn... everybody does that... sigh...
The weird part was, I hadn't even fired my weapon or tossed a 'nade yet, when dudes on the MEC team initiated a kick vote. OK, no big deal, they couldn't get it passed... but what was funny was that before the round was over, five different guys (all on the MEC side) had initiated separate kick votes...
Now... I'm still puzzled (not concerned, just puzzled) as to why they were trying to kick me... I only had eight kills and, like, four deaths that round (about my average) and the round before. It certainly wasn't for team kills (they were on the other team)... it couldn't be because of my attitude, as I don't type messages for the enemy to read and I don't use the voice chat...
LOL, It was kind of fun to be famous for a while... seeing my name at the bottom of the screen for almost an entire round...
AND, before you say it, of course I don't care and won't lose any sleep over it. Probably just a bunch of morons anyway... but I'll have C4 on a flag or vehicle or tree or fence for those morons in a match real soon (muhahahahahahaha). (Editor’s note: sounds like something I’d do during a really long match…)
C4 Finesse
Eight here.
The main road leading to Karkand is a perfect spot, I just planted four or five C4s, and then a HUMVEE and a tank stopped right on top of it cause the HUMVEE driver wanted to do repairs after the tank got hit by a rocket.
His squad spawned on him and one of them got into the gunner spot on the tank.
That's when another guy spawned and I pressed the detonator.
*Beep*
*Boom*
Screams of laughter via VOIP, as my whole squad was watching the fireworks.
Experimentation is good…
Something I been trying a lot lately is strapping all five C4 packs to the nose of the Mi17 and then flying it into a full Blackhawk on Mashtuur city, bail at the last second and then click the button.
The chat that follows is absolute gold.

But you can't beat this. In the heat of battle, I'm running low on lead, so I call a supply drop for my squad; the commander was quite the lad and responded immediately.
Little would I know, the supply drop fell right on top of me, and squished me with the much-needed cache of munitions and med kits.
Best. Win. Ever.
I had a good one last night. We were on Kubra Dam and it was tied the entire round. Only when it got down to about ten points did our side finally have a five-kill advantage. The score was like eight to three when I did this.
I took a jeep and motored back to the main MEC base. I ran over a guy right next to the flag and made a large circle to come back around. On my way back a medic ran out to his fallen comrade and was about ready to revive him. I lined up perfectly on them but got shot before I could reach the two of them. The last thing I saw before the score screen was my jeep careening into that crouched medic. My jeep kept going though and ran over both the medic and the revived victim. It was those final two kills that ended the round!
WTF?!
I was with some mates in a unranked bookable server, doing some stunt type stuff. A mate goes up the giant tower in Dalin Plant, C4's himself off it, parachutes on a set of four huge silo type things. He slips off, parachutes again, and then proceeds to "float" down and land on my head.
Slow Learner
The most fun I had with killing someone was when one of my douche bag teammates wanted a jeep I was in badly enough for him to start shooting at me. I was on an incline when I got out and the guy was right behind it. It started rolling backwards, and apparently this guy didn't know to hold “E” when trying to get into a vehicle.
Now that isn’t much fun by itself, just more poetic irony than funny. The funny part is that it killed him four more times (that’s right, the same jeep). What happened was an overeager medic saw him die, revived him, and the jeep instantly killed him again. The medic did this three more times before the jeep finally killed him too.
I just couldn't believe what I was seeing. The jeep killed this guy a total of six times. SIX TIMES!!! I couldn't stop laughing for, like, five minutes. After that I went and got back into the jeep and drove off. Needless to say that guy didn’t want the jeep I was driving any more.
Goin’ Down With Style
I believe this was in Karkand or something. We should know those houses by now, where there's a stairway up and every house, everywhere, looks the same on the inside. Then there’s one more stairway up to the roof, where oft we find snipers.
I was in that little house, in that very room, and I was sniping from it (as special forces) with my buddy (who was also special forces) and we were doing awfully well; to a point where an order was issued to take us out. A big organized effort came to storm the house; and from the windows I saw them all coming. Low on ammo, we thought we could put our explosives to use, so we planted some on the doorway in, the stairway up, on the tables, the closet, the TV, the couch, well... anywhere without actually hiding it.
There we stood, at the ready with our remotes; waiting for them to enter.
The yokels come running up in this huge group (four or five through the main entrance), and another group who must've taken the rooftops to storm us from upstairs (three of them). Upon entry, and initially about to shoot us, they notice all the pretty little green packages adorning every household surface.
They spin around and head for the door (Editor’s note: smart). Some were oblivious and kept shooting (Editor’s note: not so smart).

How to use a smoke grenade…
I was play Karkand last night and I was capping a base when I see on the UAV that someone was coming towards me. We both used a full clip on each other, without taking damage. I switch over to a smoke grenade and throw it. The other guy must have thought it was a frag grenade because he ran away. When he realized it was smoke he came running back really wanting to get me. I was waiting prone and with one shot he was dead......
Just really made me laugh the way it all came together
Hey ya’ll! Watch this!
Heh. I just saw this one the other day. The MEC commander was sitting in a RIB just off the coast of the southern base. The US commander did a scan and saw him sitting there, not moving. He goes over VoIP, "Hey guys, watch the sinking ship", spots it on the map, and drops some supplies on the RIB. It sank the boat and killed the commander. That was the first time I ever saw the supplies sink a freaking boat.
Karma Sucks
Another death for me rather than a kill. On Wake Island, I was playing as a sniper, taking out the oncoming soldiers. As I started to run out of life/ammo I called for a supply drop. The commander obliged. As it was dropping a distance away I ran towards it and went prone next to a hut. Whilst waiting for the crate to land I was "critically wounded". As usual, I called for a medic to revive me. Unfortunately as the medic was approaching the supply crate landed on the roof. As the medic then positioned himself to bring me back I watched the crate slide off the roof and 'kill' us both.
Skydiving Gone Wrong
I was flying in the NVA transport spawn helicopter and we were hovering above the enemy base so we could respawn and skydive to certain doom. Well, I jumped out at the same time as this other guy and we were both falling at warp speed. I waited till the last minute to pull the chute; but just as I did, I noticed that the other guy slammed right on top of one of huts. And the best about it was I could hear his guy screaming down till the thud. I don’t know if that guy was paying attention, but I was cracking up so hard I forgot that I just landed at the enemy base. Of course, I immediately got wiped out.
Hind Attack
I remember one time on Desert Combat when one of my friends was over at my house and we were taking turns. I had really been tearing up, and as I was walking over the mountains at El Alamien, a Hind attacked me. I kept looking up and running towards it, in order to get underneath its rockets. Then all of a sudden the helicopter disappeared over a hill. I was like, “Where did it go?” I was looking around in circles, then all of a sudden: boom! It crashes down right before my eyes! Shortly after, the pilot comes parachuting down and I kill him with my pistol. I had used up all my rifle ammo on the Hind.
Once in a lifetime…
One of the funniest moments I had? Well, we were preparing for a match on Desert Shield. I was using the SCUD from the Opposition’s main base. I was looking through the artillery picture and fired a shot at the Coalition’s airfield. As my shot was descending on their base, I saw an Apache coming in to reload. Several tense seconds passed, then: boom! The SCUD hit dead on and demolished the Apache. It was one of those things that you will never see again. Taking out a helicopter with the SCUD from across the map. It was hilarious.

I was on the MEC team in Operation Clean Sweep and had been in my attack helicopter all day. I was shot down, so I respawned and got into the helicopter. Suddenly, I notice 10-15 enemy soldiers coming over the crest of the hill.
“Well,” I thought, “either I can run like a coward or kill them all. Hmm. Let’s go with the second option.” So I get in the gunner position and start blasting away at anything that moved. When the smoke settled, only one got away. That day I got my Helicopter Service Ribbon.
Oh, yeah. After killing the marines, a Cobra comes and blows me up before I even get in the pilot seat.
Lone Defender (Super Base Defense: Novel style)

(Editor’s note: near as I can tell, this is the same story as above written in a more descriptive and personified way. Makes a good read.)The sun was beginning to set over the western mountains. I had managed to beat back the infidels as they tried to take our island. Though I had not been completely successful, I had managed to stave them off long enough for the ground troops to set up defensive positions.
After losing my helicopter just over the airfield I guided myself back to the pad. Somehow the infidels managed to capture the abandoned village to the south of us. As I looked to the ridge I saw an infidel attack wave bearing down on me and two other soldiers. I had no time to think, only act.
I had landed off target, near our flag, and so I ran. I ran as fast as I could the fifty feet that separated me from my helicopter. That was the longest fifty feet of my life as bullets whizzed passed my head and kicked clouds of dirt up around my feet. As I reached my helicopter I saw my fellow soldiers take a grenade round. I had to act if we were to keep the base so I quickly jumped to the gunner’s position. I trained my sights on an infidel coming down the hill at me and let lose the gun.
For the next ten seconds I did nothing but hold down the trigger as infidel after infidel fell before me. As I trained my sights on the last of them my gun finally gave into the barrage and overheated, giving the infidel time to retreat. In the end fifteen infidels were counted as dead through my actions.
Unfortunately I would never be able to revel in the fact. As I began to take off, an infidel helicopter took swift revenge for the deaths of his comrades. He blew me to pieces. As they lay my body in the ground they pinned the Helicopter Service Ribbon to my chest and lowered me down. (Editor’s note: bought and paid for in blood)
Charge of the n00b brigade…

I was playing as MEC, and we were on Karkand holding the first point. Every once in awhile, a squad would attempt to rush this alleyway in order to get to the base.
Apparently, they never got the concept that the same tactics in the same situation will always produce the same outcome.
Long story short, for about three rounds I played cat and mouse with this squad, in that same alleyway; and every time I would mow them down with machine gun fire.
Sure every now and then they would manage to flank me, but they would still wind up with a face full of lead.
It took 'em long enough, but they finally outflanked me via a field and went up the stairs to cap the base. But not before I gave 'em a parting gift of two dead and one wounded.
I should really thank that squad; because without them, I wouldn't have got over 30 kills a round! So, to n00b squads who always use the same path: I love you and your kind. Hope to gun you down--I mean, see you on the battlefield!
Massacre at Karkand (Charge of the n00b brigade: Novel style)

(Editor’s note: again this is the same story as above with more elaboration. And, again, it makes a good read. I don’t know ICPO personally, but from reading his work, I say he’s got talent.) As I walked down the alley and took my defense position I was ready for my jihad. I may not have been doing anything spectacular like blowing myself up near a convoy, but a jihad is a jihad. This was my thought as I loaded a clip and cocked my RPK-74.
As I lay down twenty feet behind the hole in the fence, I readied myself as my fellow soldiers ran by to complete their jihads in the Holy War against the American infidels. I began to hear the anguished death screams of my comrades; I sighted my weapon in and readied myself for the onslaught. Soon enough an entire squad of infidels meet their doom at the end of my barrel. None advanced more than two feet into the alley.
Wave after wave of infidels fell before my might as they ran towards the gun like chickens to the slaughter. Things escalated to the point where my gun would overheat and I would be forced to hold off the infidels by pistol and knife, fighting to earn time for it to cool down enough to be fired again.
I was on top of the world as infidel after infidel fell to my might. I believed Allah himself had blessed me; but then, fewer and fewer infidels came. I should have taken that as a sign, but I felt invincible. Then, as a specter in the night, an infidel snuck up behind me and put three rounds from his pistol into me at point blank range.
As I coughed up blood and gasped for air, and slowly I allowed the icy grip of death overcome me. I know it was the will of Allah. My eyelids slowly closed on the world I had known.
The world that had forsaken my beliefs and, ultimately, me.
Comeback Time

Well, I joined an EA server and happened to wind up on the team that was loosing. But unlike a noob, I didn’t just switch to the wining side. I fought my way to first place on our team, but we didn’t win the round. On next map, Mashurr city, the first round started off as a massacre for our side. When we were pinned down at the US base, I told all my teammates to respawn as anti-tanks. This was because a Blackhawk overhead was owning everyone.
But did they listen? No.
Soon enough the second round came. I sprinted to the flag where our tank spawns. As a medic, I drove up to the middle flag and came face-to-face with an enemy tank; of course, I blew him up with no problem. During this round, I ordered everyone to rush my position. This time they listened.
About midway through the round, we had the US trapped in their base. I told everyone to rush ‘em, using the same tactic as before. This time, however, some enemies slipped by us. Before we knew it, the US had captured the middle flag! I jumped back in the tank and headed that direction with my squad. Boom! One of them got hit. I jumped out the tank, which was still under fire, to revive him.
My teammate’s life saved, I scrambled back into the tank and blew up a HUMVEE. Unfortunately, I hit one of my own teammates in the process. So once again, I hopped out and revived him; I cut it so close that I was hit twice while running to and from the tank.
I had promised my team victory, and I was going to keep that promise.
As the battle raged on, I still jumped out to revive teammates, no matter the cost. However, they didn’t have much to worry about. I had a great gunner riding on top.
All through the round I drove back and forth so my team could cap each flag, but I always stopped to revive my teammates.
“Spear Head, break through the line!” –slayer
That’s what ran through my mind as I was fighting. The US was shocked when my team started owning and winning; without noobish TKs or anything! The only time I found myself forced to fire was on a Blackhawk, an enemy tank, and a jeep. I let my gunner deal with the groundpounders.
When the game ended, I had over 60 points; mostly for teamwork.
Even though I'm a lone wolf, I know how to be a team player.
Hitchhiking the BF2 way…

I was waiting for an MEC to get a knife battle on. Then our tank drove by me slowly from the side. I saw an MEC special forces coming from behind. He didn’t C4 the tank. He jumped on to the tank, and stayed on top of the tank for a good two minutes; even when the tank was starting to move away. I was being an ******* and I didn’t spot that Special forces out, because the scene was just too classic. I didn’t get enough of a laugh yet... and this one I actually got a screenshot of.

Hey, I first played BF2 on the release day of the demo, played Oman to death, then moved away from home.
I've now got the Internet and a full copy of BF2. At first I was disappointed, the squads weren’t half as good as the ones I experienced in the demo, and I basically got up to Corporal as a lone wolf in the first two days since I was sick of poor leadership.
However.
I played a server tonight on Operation Clean Sweep, and I decided to lead myself.
I created a squad called "Blackhawk" and sent out some invites, my team soon filled and we choppered out to the MEC Main base, capped it and moved along the flags one at a time , all the while the commander helping us with UAVs and directing jets in to fend off air threats. Eventually, USA had all but the middle flag by the big bridge, our chopper was damaged at the Northern most flag, so we set out on foot. All six of us jogged along, and took the catwalk beneath the bridge, upon getting to the other side, I hid by some rocks and my team slowly snaked down the hill, and after a few respawns each, and a few close calls by the rocks, we took the flag and won the game by 200+ tickets.
Bit of a pointless story though, but have faith! I did not know any of my squaddies, I didn’t even have my VoIP set up yet, but still we dominated the map, and a couple of us got the promotions/ribbons to show for it.

Then, I got this crazy idea: we should infiltrate the carrier! My friend agrees (we’re in a LAN gaming hub) and we headed for the nearest RIB. He grabs the gun, I grab the helm and we were off.
Our approach was surprising easy. Our only encounter was with an inbound Blackhawk. The gunner took a few potshots at us, but did only minimal damage to our craft. We landed in the boat dock of the carrier; I covered my friend as he hopped out. Coast was clear. He does the same for me, and then I started moving for the ladder. At the top I was greeted, in typical American fashion, by a spawning anti-tank. A quick glance at my friend’s screen revealed that he wasn’t in a position to fire. So I took the liberty of cutting loose a burst, dropped the guy, and moved on.
The flight deck was empty when we arrived. After destroying the UAV trailer and the radar dish, my friend was left with two charges and I, three. He ran up to the observation deck while I left a gift a lá C4 on the cockpit of the VTOL jet. I threw the remaining charges on a Blackhawk that had recently spawned. I then joined my friend in hiding.
A few minuets pass and things are still “all quiet on the western front”, so to speak. Curious as to the lack of activity, I brought up my map…to see that the only points we still controlled were the hotel and our base. About this time, someone spawned and made a beeline for the VTOL.
Sweet.
I waited until he was up and moving before I pressed the detonator. Upper left corner text confirmed my kill, so I peeked up to watch the fireball descend into the sea. Except, it didn’t. There was the jet, untouched (yet pilot dead), still flying aimlessly towards the shore.

So my friend and I met on the flight deck and got permission from the commander to use a nearby Blackhawk for a HALO (High Altitude Low Opening) over the enemy’s base (Editor’s note: always good to get the commander’s approval)
Upon arrival at maximum altitude over our target, we bailed. We freefell for some ten seconds, or at least until I could fire my pistol and hit the ground five feet below me. Whichever came first. We cut it close, but we popped our ‘chutes and landed safely.
Once on the ground we bagged the UAV trailer and one of the artillery pieces. Apparently the MEC didn’t take too kindly to our escapade, and we soon found ourselves engaged in a firefight. After eliminating the tango, I decided that it was time to book it. We [GTA’d] (Editor’s note: Grand Theft Auto’d. My “clever” term for taking something by force) a transport chopper; my friend grabbing the controls and I, the gun turret.
Shortly thereafter, we touched down on the carrier. Having spent a great deal of ammo, we called for support, patched ourselves up, and headed into the breach again.
Only to be hit by the artillery as we flew over it.

LT. Chisolm and I (MARINE203) were playing Strike at Karkand, USMC. As is our practice, we start our own squad. I'm a medic and the squad leader; my friend is special forces. We both have the weapon unlocks. We started, as most people do, by going down the hill and breaking the pieces of wood covering the hole in the metal fence. We stop behind that big section of pipe there. I turn to LT. Chisom (we were in a LAN café, sitting next to each other), “I’m not leaving this pipe till I am out of grenades!” Being the squad leader, I ordered him to do the same (we get into the game way too much). So we toss all of our grenades across the road into that alleyway getting maybe four kills between us.
He takes point and goes through the hole, following normal room clearing procedures. He announced “Clear” when the area was safe (he's going into the Marine Corps. and
I just know all of these things. Again, we get into the game way too much). I come into the room and quickly sweep it myself. About this time he moves to the alleyway, heading to the hotel spawn, and takes half a clip from an MEC assault. I responded in kind and emptied half my clip into him. This completed, I started to go over to shock my friend back to life.
When I got to the mouth of the alleyway, an MEC special forces opens up on me. Being a creature of habit, I empty the rest of my clip into him. Following him was a medic who starts to revive him. My rifle now empty, I switch to my pistol and kill him; and it must have been my lucky day because a support came around the corner and hit the dirt. I drop my kit, pick up my friend’s kit and kill the support. I started to reload when another special forces came around the corner. Crap. I switch to my friend’s Mk 23 and empty the magazine into the guy’s head. This time I wait for someone else to come around the corner. No one did. I then proceed to pick up my medic kit (it should be noted that this firefight lasted less than fifteen seconds), got my shock paddles out and (finally) revived my friend.
Getting back on his feet, he picks up an MEC special forces kit and begins to walk off…only to catch an MEC shotgun blast to the chest. Once again I rush forward, this time with my knife, and stab the engineer in the head, killing him. Probably should have followed my number one rule: always reload when not moving. I got out my shock paddles and revived my friend. Fate wasn’t going to let me off the hook that easy. As if on cue, MEC artillery started raining around us. My friend was killed instantly. I cursed and began running…only to be hit in the road by an APC.

Once I was playing on Gulf of Oman. I was MEC and we had captured all of the flags on the map. I was the squad leader and I told my squad to defend the shores so as to prevent the Americans from landing. Of course no one really complied. They just did their thing. I was in an APC so I could attempt to shoot down any helicopters and kill any landing craft that came my way. I was set, but for some reason no one was coming. I could see a good portion of the shore and there was not any sign of any American invasion. So, after getting bored out of my brain, I did what anyone would do (even though I normally oppose it). I headed out to the carrier to spawn camp.
About halfway, I realized I should have waited a minute longer to defend. A boat started speeding in my direction. As it passed me I gave it a rocket and sent it to Davy Jones' locker. Then I saw the Cobra. The only thought running through my head was, "I'm dead." As he approached I thought I would at least try to do something to him. So, I'm sitting in the middle of the water with an attack helicopter bearing down on me. I shot a rocket at it…and I hit it square on. Now I was expecting to die, but the chopper pilot turned out to be quite a bad shot (though he was good at maneuvering the thing).
After his first pass he came back around but took just long enough that I had time to load another rocket. Again he fired off a wave of bad shots, only hitting me with one or two. I hit him with another APC rocket. Then I started taking heavy fire from the Vulcan cannon aboard the carrier. I hit it just in time to survive with a sliver of life. I fired several shots off at the helicopter and sent in fleeing behind the carrier in flames. Unfortunately I died, hit by an anti-tank rocket from the deck of the carrier.

So after purchasing Special Forces I went into single player to check out some of the maps. And for those of you who have played single player, have you noticed that the enemy compy commander always artys you when you hold still, even for a brief moment?
Anyway, I was playing on Devil’s Perch and I had just taken the gate flag. I started to climb up the ladder to get on top of the wall so I could zipline to one of the lower flags that had just been taken. About half-way up the ladder an artillery shell (the very first of the barrage) nailed me!
That was amazing enough, but then my death cam showed my body spinning at unbelievable speeds across more than half the length of the map and into the ocean out of the combat zone. My friend and I couldn't stop laughing for quite some time. (Editor’s note: I noticed the artillery as well. The enemy commander AI is inclined to blow the crap out of the human player whenever possible.)

Unfortunately, I didn't catch the guy's name. But his deed was pretty remarkable.
I was playing on Wake Island on some server and driving the jeep like a madman picking off the chopper campers (who deserve to die btw). As I was coming around for another pass, I see a guy making a break for the jet. I accelerate up to ramming speed, but I'm just a hair too slow and I plow into the jet after he gets onboard. Well I fully expected to die right there. But instead, my jeep was smoking and I managed to push the jet off the edge of the runway and it was slipping down towards the ocean.
The pilot did some quick thinking and actually took off from the side of that hill! I don't know if those Chinese jets will hover or not (Editor’s note: to the best of my knowledge, they can’t. Which makes this pilot’s feat even more remarkable.), or if he just punch the afterburner. But I sat there in disbelief as he flew off and left me sitting there with my smoking jeep.
Nice job, buddy.
