All the online without the fluff.
Come December 1, 2020, Rockstar Games will release Red Dead Online as a separate purchase and download. You no longer will need Red Dead Redemption 2 to play online if you don't want it.
Rockstar will price Red Dead Online at a low price of just $4.99 (USD) at release and through to February 15, 2021. Afterwards, that price will increase to $19.99 if you want to dive into the world of Red Dead Online. Even if you don't want to play Red Dead Online now, at $5, it's not a bad idea to just purchase it for a later point in time.
This standalone release is coming to the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the usual storefronts. There will be an option to unlock the story mode for Red Dead Redemption 2 for an additional fee. All future content updates for Red Dead Online will be included with the standalone offering.
This move seems to go hand-in-hand with Rockstar's move to release GTA Online as a standalone release for the PlayStation 5 in 2021.
