Developers One More Level, 3D Realms, and Slipgate Ironworks just released their first-person cyberpunk parkour action game, Ghostrunner. Though a certain other "cyberpunk" game has been delayed again, this might just fill that dystopian void in your heart, provided you have a PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC.
You awake as a Ghostrunner, a blade using fighter that has a hell of a lot of agility. Your task is to ascend to the top of humanity's last remaining tower city. You will be able to parkour your way around the environments using your legs to run on walls, hop over obstacles, or use your grapple hook to fling yourself forward. All the while you will be guided by an A.I. that may or may not have your best interests in mind. Your goal is to overthrow the "tyrannical Keymaster" while also uncovering your own mysterious past.
Each one-hit-one-kill showdown rewards precise reflexes and white-knuckle courage. Instant respawns and generous checkpoints turn impossible odds into empowering encounters. Enter the Cyber Void to unlock new abilities, like Tempest—a short-range concussive blast—and Surge, a horizontal beam projectile killing all foes in its path. Unleash these new skills on a vengeful journey complemented by Daniel Deluxe’s intense synthwave soundtrack.
Ghostrunner is available now for $29.99 (USD). A Nintendo Switch version has been pushed back slightly to November. A final date for the Switch will be announced in the coming days.
