Mario, Sonic, and Crash better watch out because a sequel to 2013's mega-hit, Garfield Kart, was just announced today. It's called Garfield Kart: Furious Racing and it seems as though it's in development for the PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It has a release date set for November 5, 2019.
Publisher Microids and developer Artefacts Studios made the announcement earlier today. It's a, uh, very interesting release date, I'll give it that. It just so happens that it is slated to be released on the same day as Death Stranding. I hate to be that guy, but I think that spells certain doom for Hideo Kojima's upcoming title.
Those of you on the PC can add the game to your Steam Wishlist now so that you can be alerted the moment it's released. And no, I'm not sure why the Steam page says it's releasing on November 21 when all of the official communications about the game have said November 5.
Garfield Kart: Furious Racing includes a Grand Prix mode, single race, time trials, four-player local co-op, and eight player online races. The game will ship with 16 tracks, eight characters, and nine "attack and defense bonuses."
The first game is priced at $4.99 (USD), but was probably more expensive at launch. If the sequel ships at the same price, or even upwards of $20, that's actually not too bad of a deal for the amount of content they're talking about here. I know the game (and Garfield himself) has achieved "minor meme" status, but the games don't seem all that bad.
I have to say though, how are you going to snub Orson, Roy, Booker, and the other farm "Friends" from U.S. Acres?
