According to Reuters, Comcast and EA are nearing a deal that will soon allow customers using Comcast's X1 cable box system to buy games from EA.
After two years of testing, Comcast and EA, are close to reaching an agreement to stream video games such as "FIFA" and "Madden," into the living rooms of some of Comcast's more-than 22 million customers across the United States, said the sources, who declined to speak publicly before a deal had been struck.

According to the report, Comcast would make the games available through X1, "a video operating system with apps and an interface that is considered the most sophisticated in the cable industry." Their goal is to make "buying games as easy as ordfering a pay-per-view movie."

Under this potential deal, EA could offer a wide variety of games. From FIFA to Madden to Monopoly to Plants vs. Zombies.

Nothing has been finalized just yet. And yes, we are well aware of how amusing it is that Comcast's set top box that may soon be able to stream and play games is called the "X1."
