Let the following story be a lesson in how not to respond when or if your game ends up on Steam. Mike Maulbeck, the developer behind the game Paranautical Activity threatened to kill Valve's Gabe Newell.
Why?
Because the Steam storefront accidentally listed the game as being on "Early Access" even though it left Early Access and was officially released today. That is literally the only reason that threat was made.
He then went on to make this Tweet that he later pulled (but remains thanks to the power of the Internet and screenshots).
Valve then pulled the game from Steam. The game's page is gone, though it seems that if you own the game on Steam prior to this happening, it is still in your game's list (for now). Maulbeck's latest Tweets seem to be a mix of regret, a brat throwing a tantrum, and righteous indignation.
That's one hell of a way to shoot yourself in the foot. Especially when this is an issue that could have been fixed, possibly within minutes, simply by contacting Valve in private.

Mike needs some anger management. I mean when something doesnt go right for me, I start making calls to people, politely, letting them know the situation and could we get it fixed.
He got so wrapped up in the discount taking money away. Just think how he would have acted when the steam sales would come up.

So yes, instead of blaming his partner and his irrational temper, he's blaming the media. He's blaming Valve. He's defending his (now former) partner. He's trying to downplay the fact that his business partner MADE A DEATH THREAT and says that it wouldn't be an issue if it wasn't for gamergate. I mean, really? Really?!
Plus in the past there was controversy about the game because it was claimed they stole assets for it. Plus the issue with them being on Greenlight and then getting a deal with Adult Swim to publish the game which is against the entire nature of being on Greenlight, etc etc etc.
He could have walked away from this and maybe said a few positive things to help his situation.
Oh well, yeah, I guess his career is over.
