60FPS Performance Mode Confirmed for Remnant 2

In a world where 60FPS on current-gen is uncertain, it's nice to get some good news.

Several games lately have shipped without any sort of a 60FPS performance mode option on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. What used to be the norm near the launch of these newer consoles has now seemingly become so uncertain that it's now newsworthy when a game announces it will ship with a 60FPS performance option.

Microsoft - Activision Blizzard Deal on Hold Until August

This is the acquisition that never ends. Yes it goes on and on, my friend.

As reported on several times last week, the only remaining hurdle standing in the way of Microsoft closing the deal on their Activision Blizzard acquisition was the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). Microsoft and the CMA got together on Monday, July 17th as planned to try to either finalize a deal that would satisfy the CMA.

After a few hours of talks today, both sides agreed that Microsoft...

FTC Loses Request to Extend Pause on Microsoft's Activision Blizzard Deal

Microsoft is now (almost) free to close the Activision Blizzard deal after 11:59PM (PT) today.

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals just denied the Federal Trade Commission's request to issue an emergency stay to extend a temporary restraining order. The current restraining order ends July 14, 2023 at 11:59PM (PT). This failure to get that temporary extension means that Microsoft, if they wanted to, could close the deal with Activision Blizzard tonight.

    The FTC made the...

Though it will utilize DirectStorage to help make up the difference in performance.

The system requirements for the upcoming PC release of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart were shared earlier today in a now deleted Steam blog post. There are five separate configurations offered that show what sort of performance level you can expect.

Baldur's Gate 3 Devs Warn Against Starting Early Access Now

Progress is getting wiped in 3 weeks when the game launches.

Baldur's Gate 3 studio Larian Studios says it would be kind of dumb for players to dive too deep into the current Early Access release. The studio says that no progress from the Early Access release will carry over to the full game when it launches on August 3rd. They instead say to look at a purchase of the Early Access release as "essentially a pre-order."

Not only will all progress be wiped, but...

  • How Many Games Did You Complete in 2025?
    by Shawn Zipay
Make up your own definition of "complete."

Was 2025 a big year for game completions for you, or were you more of a "stick to one never-ending, live-service game for the entire year" sort of player?

For this, you can take whatever definition you want as a game "completion." Beat the main story? Earned 100% of the game's achievements? Or simply played enough that you're satisfied with what you accomplished and have no plans to return any time...
