Thanks to some keen eyes on the part of CharlieIntel, the single player campaign for Call of Duty may not be completely dead.
CharlieIntel spotted a new job listing on Infinity Ward's job page that is looking for a "Narrative Scripter." Though nothing is confirmed, this seems to indicate that next year's Call of Duty will bring back the single player campaign.
The posting also notes that those applying for the job should have "a strong desire to bring life to game characters through naturalistic and cinematic implementation of vocal performance."
Of course, this could also apply to something like a more in-depth Zombie mode, so who can say for sure.

(For the record, I liked the Choose Your Own Adventure branching story paths in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. I mean I hated what it took to get the good [non-canonical] ending, but I still liked how it was implemented. So I'm more pissed that Michael Pachter was correct in predicting this along with a billion other CoD fans.)
