  • Infinity Ward Job Posting Suggests Call of Duty 2019 Could Bring Back Single Player Campaign

    Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
Thanks to some keen eyes on the part of CharlieIntel, the single player campaign for Call of Duty may not be completely dead.

CharlieIntel spotted a new job listing on Infinity Ward's job page that is looking for a "Narrative Scripter." Though nothing is confirmed, this seems to indicate that next year's Call of Duty will bring back the single player campaign.
Come work with the game industry’s brightest on a new, exciting, unannounced title for multiple next gen platforms.

In this hands-on role, you’ll collaborate with scripters, sound designers, writers, and directors to implement voice-over performances in-game across a wide variety of player experiences – from combat to set-pieces.

The posting also notes that those applying for the job should have "a strong desire to bring life to game characters through naturalistic and cinematic implementation of vocal performance."

Of course, this could also apply to something like a more in-depth Zombie mode, so who can say for sure.

I don't know. It could be like you said at the very end. Treyarch did say they have more character and depth in the multiplayer experience, so... Infinity Ward may be doing the same thing and try to pull off a multiplayer experience with uh... Really uh... Solid narrative...? Sure.

It was probably a good idea to skip the campaign from the developer who makes the really good ones (Treyarch), and continue it with the developer who brought us intelligent fish.

The amazing fish that we've never seen before. Christ we've been tolerating the technology limitations of the N64, but now we see the light with the brand new engine with super advanced AI and ultra detailed dogs from Infinity Ward!

(For the record, I liked the Choose Your Own Adventure branching story paths in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. I mean I hated what it took to get the good [non-canonical] ending, but I still liked how it was implemented. So I'm more pissed that Michael Pachter was correct in predicting this along with a billion other CoD fans.)
