Nintendo held a special Direct today for The Legend of Zelda's 40th anniversary. The company showcased a handful of new Zelda-related announcements, including a new extended gameplay look at the Ocarina of Time remake, new amiibo figures, new concerts, and the absolutely wild name they gave the upcoming The Legend of Zelda live-action film.
Without a doubt, the biggest reveal from the Direct was the new gameplay footage for the upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The extended gameplay footage is presented by producer Eiji Aonuma. Alongside this new gameplay footage, a more general trailer was also released for the remake of Ocarina of Time.
Nintendo announced that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will be released on the Switch 2 on November 5, 2026. Fans are already busy on social media and forums debating whether or not the new art style for Ocarina of Time is good or bad.
Also shared with fans today was a "Triforce Medley" arrangement that was specially made for Zelda's 40th anniversary. Nintendo says that the work is "themed around Wisdom, Power, and Courage - the virtues of the Triforce - and includes a medley of various songs." Relatedly, a live orchestra for The Legend of Zelda kicks off in January 2027 in Japan. Further down the line, dates will be added for locations in the U.S., U.K., and Australia. Tickets for the performances in Japan will start to go on sale later this month.
There will soon be special Zelda-themed tickets available soon for the Nintendo Museum. The special tickets will be sold for about one year. The museum will also get a special history of Zelda timeline board installed. On November 5, 2026, the museum will also offer a special photo opportunity where visitors can, at the very least, be near the Master Sword.
Nintendo will soon sell real Ocarinas and other merchandise themed around the Zelda franchise. There will be two different Ocarinas available for purchase. One will be a standard wind instrument from the Nintendo Store, while the other Ocarina is an electronic one from Hori. Other new merch includes LEGO sets for adult Link and Epona. There will also be new amiibo released of young Link and young Zelda.
Of course, what would a 40th anniversary be if Nintendo didn't also announce the release of a limited Ocarina of Time console and matching Pro Controller? Both of these will be available starting October 29, 2026.
Finally, Nintendo let the cat out of the bag on the final title for the upcoming live-action film for The Legend of Zelda. The movie will be called... The Legend of Zelda.
The Legend of Zelda arrives in theaters on April 30, 2027.

Hmm...................I'd say Nintendo pissed off customers the least thus far. But I'm sure they'll find ways (including PC) to REALLY test our patience before we finally crack.
