The next entry in the Forza Horizon series, aptly named Forza Horizon 6, will take you to the streets of Japan on May 19, 2026. The official release date announcement was shared by Playground Games today during the latest Xbox Developer_Direct showcase.
During today's showcase, Playground Games shared a pretty good look at the gameplay, including showcases for a number of "breathtaking landscapes of Japan." The footage also includes a brief look at some of the city racing as well as a look at the 2025 GR GT Prototype, which will be the cover car for Forza Horizon 6.
Forza Horizon 6 will feature the largest and densest map of any Horizon game to date, full of verticality, diverse biomes, seasonality and breathtaking driving experiences – all elevated by Japan’s unique car culture. And just when you thought things couldn’t get better, the team provided an overview of the new features players will enjoy as part of Forza Horizon 6 – including Customizable Garages and The Estate, an overhauled car roster (with 550 cars to collect and customize at launch) as well as new shared experiences, Drag Meets and Horizon Time Attack Circuits.
It should also be noted that those who buy Forza Horizon 6's Premium Edition will get advance access to the game on May 15th. A PlayStation 5 release of Forza Horizon 5 is also coming but that one will come at a later date.
