  • ASUS and Nvidia Both Say that the RTX 5070 Ti Is Not Dead, At Least Not Yet

But doesn't a near total lack of supply effectively mean it's dead?
A photograph of the ASUS TUF RTX 5070 Ti graphics card.

A report made just this week said that the Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti and Nvidia RTX 5060 Ti (16 GB) were "end of life." Hardware Unboxed relayed information that they were given by AIB partners such as ASUS, saying that production on these GPUs were effectively done and that whatever is currently left on shelves is all that is left.

Ah, but now ASUS and Nvidia have both made public statements in response to those reports. Both companies say that no, actually, the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5060 Ti (16 GB) are totally alive and well!

    Are they, though?

Here is what ASUS has to say:

We would like to clarify recent reports regarding the ASUS GeForce RTX™ 5070 Ti and RTX™ 5060 Ti 16 GB. Certain media may have received incomplete information from an ASUS PR representative regarding these products.

The GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB have not been discontinued or designated as end-of-life (EOL). ASUS has no plans to stop selling these models.

Current fluctuations in supply for both products are primarily due to memory supply constraints, which have temporarily affected production output and restocking cycles. As a result, availability may appear limited in certain markets, but this should not be interpreted as a production halt or product retirement.

ASUS will continue to support the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB and is working closely with partners to stabilize supply as conditions improve.
Here is what Nvidia has to say:

Hardwareluxx: What changes are occurring in the GeForce ecosystem given the current memory market?

Nvidia: Demand for GeForce RTX GPUs is strong, and memory supply is constrained. We continue to ship all GeForce SKUs and are working closely with our suppliers to maximize memory availability.
The problem with both of these statements lies in the fact that memory supply is not improving. In fact, memory supply and memory prices, continue to get worse. What was supposedly going to be a shortage of just a few months is now predicted to extend into 2028. If partners are still unable to get enough memory to justify restarting production, choosing instead to produce cards that they have a steady material supply for, then these cards are still effectively done for.

New desktop and laptop GPUs will begin releasing this month.

Nvidia officially revealed their newest lineup of consumer graphics cards yesterday at CES 2025. Built on their new Blackwell architecture, the GeForce RTX 50 Series of GPUs start at just $549 for the RTX 5070.

In addition to the RTX 5070 at $549, Nvidia announced the RTX 5070 Ti at $749, RTX 5080 at $999, and the RTX 5090 at $1,999. Both the 5080 and 5090 will be out starting January 30th. The 5070 and 5070...

Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti Reaches 'End of Life' as Memory Shortage Worsens
      by Shawn Zipay
One of the first notable GPU casualties from the memory shortage.

Hardware Unboxed, citing conversations they had with retailers and AIB partners, say that the Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti GPU is dead. These conversations were held following this month's Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

Asus was very direct with their statements to Hardware Unboxed. The 5070 Ti has been placed into "end-of-life" status at Asus due to a near complete lack of supply. Asus has no plans...

Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti Released annnnd It's Gone
      by Shawn Zipay
Sorry, did you want a new GPU? Too bad.

Nvidia released their GeForce RTX 5070 Ti graphics cards today and, yep, they're already sold out everywhere. The "paper launch" of the RTX 50-series continues without remorse after a similar thing happened with the late January release of the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080.

For the RTX 5090 supply, Nvidia seems at least be making efforts to fix the supply woes. Nvidia's third-party partners are expected to get a "stupidly...
