Get ready to set sail with the first ever new skill to be added to Old School RuneScape: Sailing. A new update for the MMO will allow players to take to the high seas with new questlines, upgradeable ships, and more.
This update should be live now for players.
To get started, you need to have completed the introductory quest, Pandemonium. There are no requirements outside of that in order to start the quest. Just speak to Will and Anne at the Port Sarim Docks. Upon completion of the quest, you'll get your first Raft and Captain's Log.
After that, you will be able to manage, recover, and customize your Raft by speaking to a Shipwright, which are typically found at most major ports. They will take you to a Shipyard where you can turn your raft into something truly sea worthy.
Old School RuneScape Sailing - Key Features:
- An uncharted ocean to explore filled with new quests and adventures. Begin at the familiar Port Sarim before heading to Pandemonium, a homely port and the location of the starting quest in Sailing, to learn the ropes before venturing into more turbulent waters.
- Travel across the sea on the hunt for new adventures and NPCs. Get to know the Tortugan species on The Great Conch Island. Secure port tasks and set sail to various locations using your spyglass in exchange for XP. Pry open crates of rum, solve mermaid riddles and search for lost shipwrecks to salvage valuable treasures.
- Sail hazardous waters filled with new threats and face monsters from both the sea and the skies, with the arrival of sharks, orcas, frost dragons, and gryphons, as well as brand-new, never-before-seen enemy types.
- Max out the brand-new Sailing Skill and earn ship upgrades with each new level. From wood type to expanded cargo holds, new cannon types and ship facilities, build your simple starting raft into a seaworthy vessel fit for traversing Gielinor’s deepest waters.
- Master Shipbuilding and brand-new pieces of skilling content to expand the sailing experience beyond captaining a ship. Chop new types of trees, fletch new logs, mine unique ores, fish for marine species, and use new coral nurseries to craft powerful potions. Those of a more clandestine nature will be able to steal from pirate treasure and take a five-fingered discount from market stalls.
- The race to level 99 returns for the first time since launch, with an exclusive Sailing Skill Cape (designed by community member Gentle Tractor) up for grabs to those who master the first new skill in Old School RuneScape’s history.
