Within just four days of release, the Switch 2 console has become the fastest-selling piece of Nintendo hardware ever. In the four days following its June 5, 2025 release, Nintendo says that the Switch 2 has sold 3.5 million units globally.
For a bit of a comparison, the original Nintendo Switch sold just 2.74 million units within its first month of public availability.
Nintendo did not share a more detailed breakdown of that 3.5 million unit figure. Keep in mind that there are some Switch 2 SKUs that include just the console itself, a bundle that includes the Switch 2 with Mario Kart World, and another SKU that is sold in Japan only.
Nintendo Switch 2 is the successor to Nintendo Switch and features a larger, more responsive screen and new magnetic Joy-Con 2 controllers, with more powerful processing and graphics performance that opens the door to new ways to play. With the system’s new GameChat feature, players can voice or video chat—or share their game screen—with friends online while playing a game with a simple press of the new C Button on the Joy-Con 2 controller.
