Several different sources claim that Nintendo will finally announce the Switch successor this week. According to claims from insider and leaker Nate the Hate, Nintendo will reveal their next console on Thursday, January 16th.
The Verge takes this rumor just one step further. While their own sources have also said that the 16th is the big reveal date, The Verge expects that there will be an announcement made on January 15th. They do not say what they expect from the pre-reveal "announcement." If I were to guess, I assume that they mean Nintendo will say something like "Tune in on Thursday, January 16th for your first look at the future of Nintendo." Then the 16th will feature the first official look at the new hardware.
Of course, with how many leaks and rumors there have been just in the past month, there may not be too many surprises in store for diehard Nintendo fans. Just off the top of my head, we have already (allegedly) seen the Switch 2 motherboard and other internals, the Switch 2 JoyCons, cases, and so on. Hell, there are even apparently reports that the Switch 2 is already being sold on the black market in China.
Really, it seems like the only thing that hasn't leaked yet are what the games look like running on this new hardware.
