The action-horror sequel sold 1.3 million units as of February.
Remedy Entertainment says that they still have not yet recouped the costs associated with the development and marketing of Alan Wake 2. They're close, but it just hasn't happened yet.
As of February 2024, Alan Wake 2 sold over 1.3 million copies. It's not clear how much higher that figure is here in August. Remedy's latest financial report, as relayed by wccftech.com, says that the studio is very close to recouping all the costs but is still just a bit short of the mark.
There was a Q&A session held during yesterday's financial report to investors. As part of the session, it was asked whether or not Alan Wake 2 would ever release on Steam. Remedy says that release on other PC storefronts is something they are not allowed to speculate on. Remember that Epic Games funded the development on Alan Wake 2 and published the title. That is to say, I wouldn't hold my breath for any sort of a Steam release.
A separate report from GamesIndustry notes that Tencent has increased its investment in Remedy from 5% up to 14%. Tencent is also co-financing Remedy's upcoming co-op multiplayer game called Vanguard.
As far as other Remedy projects are concerned, there are some fresh updates to share. Codename Condor, the Control multiplayer spin-off, has been in full productions since March 2024. Currently, Remedy is working on making multiple maps and different types of missions. Playtest sessions have been happening internally and very limited externally.
The Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes entered into full production in the second quarter of the year. The current goal is to get the games into a state that they can be "played" from start to finish.
Control 2 entered into a production readiness phase also in the second quarter. This is the step before full production begins. For now, Remedy is scaling up production on Control 2 and is deciding if they will self-publish or find a publisher for Control 2 and Codename Condor.
Alan Wake 2's second expansion, The Lake House, is still being worked on. The game's first expansion, Night Springs, released on June 8, 2024.

#2Shawn Zipay commented08-10-2024, 01:06 PMEditing a commentAs am I. I just know it's going to be rather jarring not hearing James McCaffrey's extremely distinct voice. Will probably take a while to get used to hearing whomever it is they hire.

by Shawn ZipayEasily, the best horror game in years.
In 2010 Remedy Entertainment released Alan Wake, a game where a writer is pulled into a horrifying world seemingly of his own creation. Alan Wake was a game that I bounced off at least two times. Despite the game being well received by critics and fans, I felt like its gameplay was just a repetitive slog that even its unique story could not overcome. When a sequel was announced by Remedy, I found myself extremely indifferent to the news. Still...-

Remedy Entertainment has regained the publishing rights to the Alan Wake franchise from Microsoft.
The development studio is currently working on Control, but they apparently found a bit of time to acquire the rights to the horror-action romp starring an author. The company told investors that they would earn €2.5 million on royalties for "previously released games" this fiscal year.
Alan Wake was released back...-
