An internal email sent by Xbox president Sarah Bond says that Microsoft is moving "full speed ahead" on the development of the next Xbox hardware. This internal email was obtained by Windows Central and has been verified to be the real deal by Microsoft.

In the email, Bond says that the team is "moving full speed ahead" on the next-generation of Xbox hardware. Bond states that they are "focused on delivering the biggest technological leap ever in a generation."

Not only is Microsoft working on the next Xbox hardware already, but they are aiming to form an entire team dedicated to game preservation.

We have formed a new team dedicated to game preservation, important to all of us at Xbox and the industry itself. We are building on our strong history of delivering backwards compatibility to our players, and we remain committed to bringing forward the amazing library of Xbox games for future generations of players to enjoy.
Microsoft will reportedly share some of this information to the public during their next Xbox Showcase. It should be noted that Microsoft will host their annual Xbox Showcase on June 9th.

The push for game preservation is one that should be welcomed and encouraged by everyone. For the most part, it already is something that most people want. The challenge for Microsoft will be how they tackle the issue of preserving more modern games. Microsoft has done a decent job at preserving some of the Xbox catalog over the years but there are still many titles that have not received the preservation treatment for one reason or another.
