The studio behind Dave the Diver, Mintrocket, just unveiled their upcoming game. It's called Wakerunners and it's a sci-fi, top-down, team battle game. Platforms and a release date did not accompany this announcement, but we do know that there will be a demo available during the Steam Next Fest slated for February.
Wakerunners can be either a 4v4 or 5v5 action title, depending on the game mode you opt to play. It features fast-paced gameplay combat in close-quarters battles set in a dystopian sci-fi future. Players will dart around the arenas by "using a unique acceleration and deceleration mechanic." Naturally, Wakerunners is full of a variety of characters and each character will have their own unique abilities, personas, and battle styles. You will be free to swap to other characters at any point in the battle in order to help your team.
In the Steam Next Fest demo, which becomes available on February 5, there will be five game modes and seven playable characters to try out. The game modes are: Team Deathmatch, Raider, Control Conquest, Command Siege, and Escort.
