Over 1 billion zombies have been made extra dead thus far.

Dead Island 2 seems like it's off to a strong start for Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios. The companies announced today that Dead Island 2 has already sold over 1 million copies just in its first three days of being available.

Naturally, some context is needed here. Dead Island 2 shipped across five platforms: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store. A million copies sold is still rather impressive nonetheless.

If that wasn't enough of an information blast for you, the studios also revealed some additional numbers. For instance, in its first 72 hours of being available, players killed over 1.1 billion zombies across all platforms. There have been 28 million total player deaths, 45 million zombies sliced in half, and 756 million limbs hacked off. All of this comes from a combined total of 11 million hours of total play time for everyone.

Dead Island 2 seemed to generate some rather favorable, but not stellar, reviews from critics. OpenCritic shows Dead Island 2 sitting at a critical average of 75% with 57% of all critics recommending it. Just from all of the gameplay I have seen of the game, it is about what you would expect from a new Dead Island game. It is no more and no less. It's a lot of zombie killing with a great gore system. Some of the biggest criticisms of the game include some repetitive repetitive gameplay elements and a bit of jank here and there.
