A new system update for the PlayStation 5 started to roll out and with it came new support for the upcoming DualSense Edge controller. The DualSense Edge is a more premium controller for PlayStation 5 users that could be viewed as Sony's take on the Xbox Elite controllers.

The DualSense Edge includes several additional features over the regular DualSense controller. These additions include the ability to easily swap out or replace the stick modules, changeable caps for the sticks, a couple of dedicated function buttons on the bottom side of the controller, a braided USB cable that can "lock" into the charging port on the DualSense Edge, swappable and mappable sets of back buttons, and adjustable trigger lengths for those who like "hair trigger" presses.

The entire DualSense Edge package includes the controller, cable, 2 Standard Caps, 2 High Dome Caps, 2 Low Dome Caps, 2 Half Dome Back Buttons, 2 Lever Back Buttons, Connector Housing, and a carrying case. The DualSense Edge can be pre-ordered now for a price $199.99 (USD).

With the new controller's release coming up rather quickly, Sony released the new PlayStation 5 system update with included support for some of the new DualSense Edge functions.

The full changelog for today's update can be found below. Your system should prompt you to install the software update the next time you turn it on.
