It looks like the band is getting back together.
Yakuza 8 early look

The first look at Yakuza 8 (or whatever it ends up being called) has appeared online from one of the most unlikely of sources. A behind the scenes video from MMA fighter and YouTuber Mikuru Asakura took fans inside the inner workings of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. During the lengthy video tour, we got a quick glimpse of Yakuza: Like a Dragon stars Ichiban Kasuga, Koichi Adachi, and Yu Nanba all together in a new game.

The footage in question begins a bit after the 10-minute mark in the video embedded below. It's only a few seconds long, but it's something.

A sequel to Yakuza: Like a Dragon was revealed to be in development at Ryu Ga Gotoku as of November 2021. So far, we know that the new entry will be a continuation of Like a Dragon's story and set a few years after the events of that game. Yakuza 8 will also be set in a new town. The game will also retain the turn-based combat introduced in Like a Dragon, though with some improvements and changes.

From the brief glimpse we were given in the video, we see that Ichiban has a bit of a new hair style. It's now tied back and not flying wild like it was for most of the previous game. It's entirely probable that this style is only for this cutscene since Ichiban's maroon suit is also nowhere to be seen. We also learned that Mikuru Asakura himself will be appearing as a character in the game in some capacity.

Besides this new Yakuza sequel, we do also know that Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is working on an entirely new franchise.
