Gran Turismo TV series Cars

Sony just announced that they are making TV adaptations of three major PlayStation franchises. Included in this is a TV series based on Horizon for Netflix, a God of War series for Amazon, and some sort of Gran Turismo series (not at all pictured above, unless...) going to a currently unannounced platform or network.

These shows were revealed during Sony's latest investor briefing that took place earlier in the day on May 26. Sony president Jim Ryan revealed these shows during a brief Q&A session at the end of the briefing. This was also relayed to the public by industry insider David Gibson through Twitter.

With these three additions, PlayStation has at least five major IPs making the move to another form of media. There is still the upcoming HBO series for The Last of Us plus a Ghost of Tsushima movie adaptation. Apparently, there's also a Twisted Metal series coming to Peacock at some point. I actually forgot about that one until right now. There was also that Uncharted movie that came out in February of this year.

Unrelated to PlayStation, Amazon is still working on shows for both Fallout and Mass Effect. Netflix has also had a bunch of game-related shows and movies. They had and will have shows for League of Legends, Castlevania, The Witcher, and (sadly) Resident Evil.

Update at 5:39PM (ET): According to a tweet sent out by The Game Awards, District 9 director Neill Blomkamp is being eyed to direct a movie based on Gran Turismo.

Blomkamp was recently talked about here due to his involvement in creating a new, "next-generation" battle royale called Off the Grid.
