It's been 30 years since the North American release of the original ActRaiser for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES for you youngsters). The original game was a solid 2D action platforming affair that also included a fair bit of town-building simulation.
Last night, Square Enix announced Actraiser Renaissance, a remastered release of the classic game that will be coming to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, mobile, and PC via Steam. This release will feature HD visuals and some quality of life improvements.
Not only was the game announced last night, but it was also released last night. Yep, it's available right now for a price of $29.99 (USD) on all available platforms. Square Enix is even giving fans a special bonus for those that purchase prior to November 1, 2021 on the Nintendo eShop, through Steam, or the PlayStation 4.
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the original game’s release, players who purchase the game before November 1st, 2021* through the Nintendo eShop or the Nintendo store website and STEAM® will receive an early purchase bonus that includes a wallpaper and a mini soundtrack consisting of five in-game songs. In addition to the mini soundtrack, players who purchase via the PlayStation store before November 1st, 2021* will receive an original PS4 theme with background music.
