What a time to be alive. You will soon be able to play next-gen games on your original Xbox One. This will be done through the power of cloud gaming from Microsoft. This holiday season, Microsoft will bring their cloud gaming service to the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, which will allow Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to stream over 100 titles to their consoles without the need to download them or even have the right hardware for them.

Microsoft made this announcement during their Gamescom Xbox Stream earlier today. The service coming to these platforms means that players will be able to stream titles without the need to wait for downloads or installs. Microsoft suggests that this would be a great way for people to try out games before committing to a purchase, or even a way for friends to join multiplayer games together without the need to wait.

Xbox Cloud Gaming officially launched this past June. It allows Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to stream games to Window 10 PCs, mobile devices, or even just straight to a web browser. At the time of launch, the servers were starting to roll out Series X server blades for increased performance and capabilities. Now that several months have passed since then, it seems as though the transition to Series X server blades is complete.

Microsoft says that they will begin testing this starting this Fall for those in the Xbox Insider program. After that, they will hopefully roll it out to everyone during the holidays.
