Tripwire Interactive just released their latest free content update for Killing Floor 2 today. Killing Floor 2: Interstellar Insanity blasts players off to the moon today to continue the fight against all matters of evil. This update is out today for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
According to Tripwire, this update marks the "end of the Lockhart map trilogy" and comes with a new survival map, Moonbase. Moonbase takes place on a Horzine research outpost on the Moon. I guess "Moonbase" is a super appropriate name then. Players will be able to play Moonbase in survival, weekly, and endless game modes.
Of course, this wouldn't be a Killing Floor content update without new weapons, right? Right. To that end, Tripwire has added in the HRG Bastion, a new LMG that includes an energy shield. Supporter users can make use of HRG Blast Brawlers, a gauntlet-style weapon. These weapons are free to everyone, just like the map is.
Looking to spend money? This content release also includes DLC and bundles that include the FAMAS Masterkey for the Commando and Support perks as well as the Thermite Bore for the Firebug perk. There are also various space-themed cosmetics to acquire.
There will be a sale on all platforms for Killing Floor 2. If it's not live for your platform of choice just yet, give it a little while and it should be on sale soon enough.
In Killing Floor 2, players descend into continental Europe where the outbreak caused by Horzine Biotech’s failed experiment has quickly spread and gained unstoppable momentum, essentially paralyzing the European Union— Just one month after the events in the original KILLING FLOOR, the specimen clones are everywhere and civilization is in disarray; communications have failed, governments have collapsed, and military forces have been systematically eradicated. The people of Europe know survival and self-preservation too well and lucky survivors have gone into hiding.
Not all have given up hope though… A group of civilians and mercenaries have banded together to combat the outbreak and established privately funded operation bases across Europe. Upon tracking specimen clone outbreaks, players will descend into zed-laden hot zones and exterminate them.
